Post by: Sir Wolf on 2012-05-31, 01:08:48
So i am angleing for the entire family to join me this fall for mdrf. The kids wanna know what all more they can do. Think maybe they got a lil bored (could be it was cold and they didn't  dress)  Logan wants to know whats left for him to buy? Hehehe he has a wooden sword axe and shield from the guy near the joust field. :)

The magician? The hypnotist? Hilby the german juggling guy is a good show. The joust. The archery demo.

I'm guessing taking them to the pub is over their age range. ;)

Not necessarily.  The kids could enjoy a root beer while you enjoy a real beer.  Unless, of course, the pub entertainers are of the bawdier style.  ;)

We used to have really entertaining pickle vendors at the MNRF (let your imagination run wild here).  Management came down on them several years ago in the name of a more family friendly atmosphere.  I can agree with the decision now that I have children, but I still miss the pickle euphemisms a bit.  ;)

Plus they have the shows designed specifically for the families w/kids at the various stages throughout the village- and face painting too.  Might be a bit kiddish for the 8 yr old, especially if its a boy...and food!  Never met a kid who didn't want to eat something on a stake, or large turkey leg...

Psh... "family friendly"... and how do they think families are made? :)

Yeah, MDRF has some bawdiness, but for the most part they push the family-friendly atmosphere as well, so it tends to be confined to the taverns.

That can be a good thing as long as it stays there.

hahahha my oldest daughter loves the pagentry of it all. she likes dressing as a lady and seeing the knights and sites and gets into it all. my son likes action and cool toys. otherwise he gets bored easily. he wants to be a knight and has his kit (he needs a new helmet)

"Drench a Wench" got toned down considerably the last few years. Sad, she was hilarious. We'd spend 15 or 20 minutes just listening to her.

(he needs a new helmet)

But it has PERIOD HORNS! What's the problem??

Your kids are cute...they'll have a good time no matter what I'm thinking.  Get the lil man another sword and you're set!
