Title: THACO - St. Paul, MN
Post by: Sir Rodney on 2012-04-20, 17:13:06
I’m very excited and a bit nervous to attend my first SCA event in 12 months.  The Armoured Combat Outing (http://www.nordskogen.northshield.org/THACO/) is our annual spring heavy combat tune-up event ‘round these parts.  This also happens to be the last event I attended.

I’ll try and get some good pictures to share.  I’m hoping that I’m not too rusty to defend myself in an honorable fashion!

Of course everyone is more than welcome to attend (you would have to leave … now  ;) ).

 :D

I too am going to an SCA fighting event this weekend. It's the Silver Desert War practice & Museum Demo.

It's my second fighting event since tearing my shoulder in August.

Every time I see the abbreviation, I keep thinking "to hit armor class zero". :)

I look forward to seeing pictures!

I managed to survive the day intact with only one minor bruise and no broken bones.   :o  I’m still completely wiped out after fighting from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM, stopping only for lunch and water breaks.

They expanded the event this year to include SCA style fencing, which I really enjoyed watching.  For being a small regional event, I was impressed that they were able to pull in 65 total participants with 35 or more being heavy combatants.

The first half of the event was an SCA style “warlord” tournament where the victor of each round absorbs the loosing team into his own.  I did not personally win the tournament, but the team I was on did!   :)

The second half of the event consisted of different scenarios (bridge, open field, castle, etc.) utilizing the two “warlord” teams established earlier.  We carried the second half of the day as well.

I’m attempting to contact the event photographer via FB to see if I can have, or link to, her photographs.

Looks like alot of were reenacting or fighting this weekend, what with the two SCA events, Wolf's WWI event and I was at School of the Musketeer. I guess that time of year is upon us  ;D

Mists/ Cynagua War
Coronet
June Crown
An-Tir West War
... and that brings us just to July 4th.
