Title: Sword-hilted hand-weights

KickASS Sword Fighting Sword Trainer.mp4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLEjonL2gpQ#ws)

Neat idea. It allows you to get some sword-related exercise in confined spaces. It sounds like it's pretty affordable too.

I just saw this on AA...I think you'll get a nice forearm/shoulder workout, but you could do that with regular handweights- or with a little creativity, some piping and a general understanding of welding and you could probably make your own for pennies on the dollar.

I know, I'm saying it, and we all know- I'm not doing that.  Besides, I prefer that, if someone happens to look into my window, I be seen swinging a sword, and not a handle.  Then I just look like I'm reliving various LARP fantasies.  lol

Since it's overseas, if we decide to get some, maybe we can put together a group order. I like the look of those MBlades "Swing" models.

89 GbP for a trainer like that? That's a little much.

That's a good deal more attractive...of the two, I'd rather have that mblade one.  If I were going to go that route.  That 'Indes' model looks like it might be some fun to bout with.

Not sure if anyone here is actually interested in these. I'm still tempted. I could use it. We could do a group order if anyone is interested. Otherwise I'm considering getting one by myself.

Anyone interested?

How good of a group rate do you think we can get?

I don't think they offer one, I'm just thinking it might be nice to save on the international shipping.

I may actually order one of the mblades. One of the guys at VAF said he handled one and thought it was pretty decent.

If anyone wants to save on shipping by combining orders, let me know. Otherwise I'll just order one for myself.

I'm interested but not at the $157.00 USD price tag.  :(

Yeah they are a little pricey. But I think for me, they're the only way I'm going to get any practice at home. I'm attempting to order a longsword AND a single-hand version.

Well that's true since you don't have a workable (or is it a work-out-able? ;)) backyard yet. :)

Finally got my "Swing". They redesigned them, so I had to wait til the new design was ready. It's actually surprisingly realistic in terms of weight and balance.

Nice acquisition, Sir Edward. I am ashamed to admit to practicing with Golgotha in my study. The result was a computer monitor with a 5" slice through the top of the screen. It was not easy to explain this to my wife. I should have taken a photo. (It looked pretty cool  ::) ) I am no longer allowed practice my swings inside the house....

Wow yeah, that's why I've been afraid to practice in the house. There's something fragile and expensive on all four sides if I practice in the largest space in the house, in the living room. One way is the TV, another is the aquarium, and another is a computer, etc. Not to mention the ceilings.

It turns out these are the heavy weights and pommels I'm showing in the picture. I got it with an interchangeable set that's a little lighter.

Have anyone in the forum ever tried a Saber Smith sword?? They have their main shop/forge out of Minnesota. They setup a store at KRF during the fall season & some other spots so I tried them out. I found their blades to be excellent quality/craftsmanship for a reasonable price tag ($400-600.00 average). Everything from pommel to tip was nicely balanced. Thoughts?? :)

Lord Dane, never heard of it.

Sylvanus...I just got the Queen's Edict regarding swordplay in the house...nowhere near her new leather couch!  As our old living room couch is bearing some unsightly scars (hey, when I found out she was shopping for a new one, I was less careful as is normally customary) I can't say I blame her.

I purchased one of their hand and a half swords about three years ago. The balance is pretty good although the blade length was less than I would prefer it does make a decent cutter. By happenstance Sir Edward’s brother-in-law purchased one of their newer hand and a half swords this past weekend at CRF. They have really improved their products, making them better balanced. I think their cross guards could be a little longer but they are good sturdy blades. One item they had in their shop which was very tempting was a redesigned battleaxe. It had more of a traditional look to it with a top spike and a back spike as well as languets, but the most interesting aspect was the fuller on the blade which really helped make the axe one of the best balanced axes I’ve ever handled. The guys at Saber Smith said it was a new design for the year, in that they made the blade a little smaller and the handle a bit longer than their one hander.

I’m quite impressed with their improvement and look forward to their future products.  :)
