Huh, $59 is a steal, assuming they articulate at all correctly. That's the thing that's hard to tell from the photos is whether they move properly or not. And it's not clear what size shoe they'll fit over.
I'm tempted to give them a shot. To some degree you can control how big your foot is underneath the sabaton by choice of shoes. Wearing turnshoes will make your feet a lot smaller than with a modern boot.
-
Judging from the lame pattern, they look like they should require little modification for movement. Actually, they're totally reversed form mine which I had to bust apart and re-assemble in the correct order...
-
Sir Edward, we can always make the rivets sliding or adjust the heel or just make a pattern from them hehehehhe. you know you want to hehe
-
Yeah, $59 isn't bad with free shipping too. Definitely Indian made armor, since it says location is New Delhi. I'm sure they'll articulate enough to be workable, but if you just want a pattern from them, I think Mad Matt is selling his sabaton patterns as a PDF for $5 or $10.
-
If your interested in sab patterns, Doug Strong has his pattern for sale on the 14th c Chartres Cathedral sabs in pdf form.
-
The sabs are mine. $59 including international shipping. Even if they need work, that's not bad.
-
Congratulations! You needed them anyways! ;)
-
sweet can't wait to see them!

Awesome! You know what goes great with sabatons? These!

You mean the poleaxes? Yeah, already in the works. Someone already bought the "B" poleaxe out from under me, by about an hour, but Craig may be willing to put a spike on one of the others and tempt me with that. So not a done deal yet, but getting pretty close. :)

Hi Sir Ed,
I have a pair of these sabatons. They are OK for the price.
Be prepared to remove a lame from these as they are massive.
They are not of the best quality manufacture but pass as show pieces.
They do move OK by the way.

ya i figured the same thing we can work on it :) or he can send his boots and sabs to Allen ;)
ooooooooooooooo get the spike get the spike get the spike

If those things are truly 16" long, then your foot size would need to be a mens size 18 at least to fit that. But at least you can cut them down...adding more material would've been problematic I'd think. lol
-
Yeah, I figure they'll probably take some work. But the length probably includes the pointy-part at the front of the toe, and of course I may be wearing it over fairly big boots. So we'll see.

That's what I'm assuming, and there's a bit of "space" between the sabatons and shoes that won't sit 100% flush, so it might be close to decent in size. Depending how much extra space of opening on the top there is (if any) it might be pretty easy to trim down if necessary, since it's flat there and easy to cut.

Forgot to mention, these got here and they're huge. They'll definitely need some resizing downward. It'll be one of those projects that I'll "get around to eventually", I'm sure. :)

Those are the best kind of projects. :) My GDFB sabatons were similar. I wonder which pair is more ridiculously oversized. Sir Nathan saw the GDFBs last weekend.
