Title: OakHeart armory shields
Post by: Leganoth on 2012-01-10, 00:10:39
Just got my shield in the mail today. ITS AMAZING. All wood, rim etching on the shield, hand painted, came with adjustable straps and padding for your wrist. Overall I would rate it a 10/10

I posted these guys up a while ago (http://www.oakheartarmory.com/1501.html (http://www.oakheartarmory.com/1501.html)), in the Armory I think-they've made my last two shields for me and I'm glad to see that they've cleaned up their work.  I had some issues with strap placement and lengths...seeing as I need a shield for my right hand and they're used to doing it for the other, there was bound to be some slight issues pop up.  I'm going to have another one done by them...initially was going to get one from Allan, but these guys come in at less than half the price, and he's made me some finger shields already, so I feel ok doing that.  :)

Nice shield, Leganoth!

Nice, makes me wanna get one, can you add a strap to it to sling it on your back or whatever or does this armory not offer that?

Ulrich, they do offer a guige strap, you have to specify you want one- and be sure about the length needed.  Mine came up a little short so I had to add another short belt to create the extra room needed.  Make sure you take the measurement over whatever gear you intend on wearing with it- I did it over just my t-shirt which worked fine in street clothes, but once in armor, I had to wear it 'purse' style over a shoulder.

If you were so inclined, you could send it back to them and they'd put one on for you, Leganoth.  8lbs you say...how big is your shield?  I had them make me two, the second one is the one I carry mostly, it weighs maybe 5lbs, and is 32" long x 20" wide, same size as Ulrich's shield.

around the brim of the shield, you can tell him to do it but it adds 4 $

You have etched characters or are you referring to the 'hose' wrapped around the rim of your shield?

wha?

Etched or edged ... hmm. I *think* it's edged, based on it being around the edge of the shield. If I had to etch around the edges of a shield, I'd charge way more than $4 for it. :)

I think he means 'edged' as well.  And that was what I was originally thinking, Sir James- that he got etching on the cheap!
