Just thought I'd share...from left to right:
Albion SL Knightly, Windlass Cut & Thrust, Windlass Swordhilted Dagger, Albion Arn (DEUS IRAE), Windlass Coustille, Windlass Classic Medieval, VA/Atrim Practical Type XII (GasteViande). Not my entire collection, just my favorites. My thanks to Sir Edward for brightening up the pic! The SL Knightly has a dark brown grip, the Arn has a lighter brown grip, the CMS has an oxblood red grip- all the rest are basic black. I may be reviewing the Windlass C&T since it is the first real sword I ever bought and as such has a good deal of sentimental value for me.

Very sweet! :)

Very nice Sir William ;)

man that is truly epic! I mean it wow cool. I did something like that a while ago. Swords through the ages bit. But I like your collection better. These were just some that fit the time line, not all the blades though.

Wonderful blades, Sir William. :)
-
Nice collection!
-
Nice! All I have is a spear and an axe.
-
Nice collection! I've seen folks fan out there blades for pictures on myArmoury too. I keep wanting to do that, but there's no room large enough in my house to have swords aiming in multiple directions on the floor. Heh. I may have to wait for an overcast day and do it in the driveway.
BTW, tried brightening up your image:
-
Thanks brothers...I've been wanting to do that for some time but am so damned lazy when it comes to taking pics. I guess because I'm horrible at it- thankfully, Sir Edward's a wizard with pics, thank you for cleaning that up! Looks better than the original so if you don't mind, I'll just replace it with yours. :)
To show how lazy I am, that's not even a wall...that's my living room floor! LOL
Sir Wolf, I like your idea...but I couldn't get all of the swords into the pic (full blades, I couldn't get far enough away). I have no ladder!
But it does give me another idea...gonna need time to pull that off though.

Count me interested. :)

Hah! You guys put my meagre collection to shame! Nice collections!
Sir William, I remember the Arn, what a sweet cutter! :D
-
Ivan, you just reminded me...I have a spearhead and butt cap I need to mount!
Sir Nathan, she surely is...did you get to cut with Sir Edward's Albion Knight? Sweetest handling characteristics I'd ever felt...so when I had a chance at the Squire Line version I jumped on it; I'll be bringing it to the next function, along with some other swords, like the C&T, which might be a way better cutter than thruster (the blade flexes too much for me to consider it a good thruster, but you gents may feel otherwise when you get a hold of it); when I first got it I was lopping off 3/4" tree branches with ease, despite the fact that it is not sharpened. It needs a lot of work; the edges need grinding and honing (used to engage in mock duels...yea, was pretty dumb when I first got it, was just entirely too excited) and I want to find a way to make the hilt components more 'permanent'; it has the Windlass ubiquitous screw-on pommel, a joy to be sure. :)
Sir James...I wish it were easy to pull off, but it involves buying a house and then renovating the War Chambers to suit- then I could do the sunburst on the wall with the swords, like the pic Sir Wolf put up.
-
Yes, the knight was another super sweet one. How's the squire line feeling to you?

I always wanted a war chamber like Conner McCleod's in the original Highlander :)
-
are the claymores real?
haahahha i totally want that to
-
Yeah, I've always wanted a room like that too. The thing is, circular walls make for a tough time hanging anything that isn't completely straight and hung vertically. :)

In a word? AWESOME. You'll see. I just got in another sharpie too...came yesterday. Gonna take some pics and post up next week. I'll be bringing that one as well...

ya know i never thought about that. i cant find any online pictures

My google-fu is weak right now too. Maybe I just need to rip the scene from the DVD.

I'm remembering multiple scenes like that. I think the original when he (SPOILER) stabs himself (/SPOILER) was in a room like that. I also remember some other scenes that were probably from the TV series. Which movie was it? I'll grab a screencap, I've got all my movies in digital format on my media server so I don't have to hunt through DVDs. :)
-
It's the first film, and yes it's the scene where he stabs himself. :) Basically he shows off the collection, which then leads to that moment.

Cool, I thought that's the part. Here's a couple quick grabs:

Yeah, but are your Claymores real? ;)

you know that IS THEE line I always remember. but looking at the photo i always though she was talking about the 2 handed kind that i must have missed in the quick pan n scan of the room. but now i know she was talking about the basket hilted ones with the sabers net to them

"There can be only one" usually sticks in my craw ;)

I was so clueless at that age, I thought she was talking about mines. ::)

Them's fightin' words! :)

Yeah, that's true. I didn't remember it having snow-shoes, for instance. With it being on screen so briefly, we probably focused on the one or two items that drew our attention, and remembered the room being full of just that kind of thing... namely, the swords and armor.
I still like the integrated seating. But yeah, I could fill a room like that, I think. :)
-
Hmmm...I had forgotten a lot of those movies...the one time I saw that room, I remember wanting to rewind (it was on cable, no rewind lol) so I could get a better look at that room.
I'd take my time filling that room!

Indeed! That movie made me want to throw things at the TV. And the producers. And at Adrian Paul for agreeing to such a ridiculous movie...

That's the difference between early 90s collections and early 2010s. :)
The other memorable scenes from me are from the TV series, when Duncan owns the pawn shop. He's got a number of swords and armor on display around the place, inside some nice glass cases, and IIRC, some others along the wall too. I want *that* setup.

Seriously. It's one of the worst films I've seen, and that's saying something, because I've sat through some REALLY bad movies.
I mean, the whole film undermines the entire franchise, by making Duncan just a sort of bystander along the way, changing around the whole concept, and not even bothering to bring in some decent production values.
That's what I also didn't get about Highlander 2. Why did they throw in this stuff about coming from another planet? The director's cut, which changes it to time travel, isn't much better. Completely undermines the concept of the first film. And the first one was artistic on so many levels.
The third one wasn't so terrible, but it was forgettable, and you had to accept the idea of the game being restarted because of trapped immortals being set free. The fourth was also not so terrible, but also forgettable. It just made an interesting extension to the TV series.
What's amazing is that the same producers were involved in all of the films, and the TV series. How can they go from good ideas to bad, and back and forth again like that? Ugh.
/rant.
-
I thought the alien premise was odd...sword fighting aliens who make use of Terran weapons? Why not have their own super-cool versions to play with?
-
"There SHOULD be only one."
-
Yea, I agree- only ONE Highlander movie...the first.
-
More sharp & pointies to share. I finally got around to taking a "fan" photo of my nicer swords. I figured this would be a good time since "Albion" finally got here, and so my collection will be somewhat stable for a while.

Very nice. Is that a Bardiche in the middle? I think those are so cool and I really want one.
-
is that the ole cas iberia one? wish i still had mine
-
Yep, it's the old CAS Iberia Sparth Axe.
-
God you guys got some interesting collections, I like the one axe that has the split crescent head thats quite interesting looking.
-
Very nice layout of your collection Sir Edward!
-
Lovely swords...but I'm loving the background - that is one seriously attractive rug! You've an eye for this sort of thing.
-
Thanks! It's just a cheap rug from Target, but I like it. It looks like a much nicer rug than it actually is. :)

What do you have against cats, Sir Wolf? lol
-
ahahha nothing. Sir Edward was a bacholar until last year. i know my best friend too well hehehhe
-
I do recall...but I have a cat as well- and I'm married!
-
In our house, it's impossible to clean all of the cat fur off of anything. The second you think you're done, more magically appears! :)

No Sir James, I think he was referring to a German Shepard. ;)
-
Sir Edward...how many cats do you have?
-
We have three in the house now. But the impossible-to-avoid fur mostly comes from the one with the long fur.
-
Ahh...a long haired cat. Very pretty, and I'm guessing quite impossible to be completely rid of all of the shedding. I have a very personable tuxedo cat...once he gets to know you. :) My wife is adamant about not letting his cat hair take over all of our surfaces. lol
-
Ah now I see, cat hairs are quite tricky but not when it comes to them roll ups eh? ;)
