So that stupid riveting tool came after 3 months of ordering it, let's see it actually BROKE after riveting 6 rings, the tool got unset and now it's uneven and the rivets don't rivet properly. I give GDFB's riveting tool a 1 out of 10. Wasted 40 bucks plus shipping on this sh** and now I'm angry, really angry. I am sticking to icefalcon maille as of now because GDFB has poor quality control...

I think that the GDFB rivet tools might be for their own maille.
Anyway, that is pretty bad though. That's why I generally stick to better quality makers for tools and such.
Their maille in itself is pretty nice though :)
Don't wanna turn this into a GDFB bashing thread.

I am gonna make my own tongs by modifying a set of regular pliers. I think the stuff was wrought iron and wasnt properly heat treated it bent. I was using it with GDFB maille rings too which I used some pliers to remove to the broken rings and replaced them with GDFB rings. They ended up bending a strange way and don't rivet properly now, after like 6 rings.

This might help you, Sir Ulrich.

That sucks. I haven't had any trouble with my IceFalcon mail & pliers. I'm surprised the GDFB pliers just broke so quickly and easily. I have the IceFalcon and Historic Enterprises pliers, they both seem sturdy.
Regular pliers would work fine, the key is to make sure that the hole for the rivet head to sit in is the same diameter and depth as the head, or it will not rivet tightly and/or may bend. I think the type of pliers you'd want to look for are "bull nose" pliers, they are shaped more like the mail pliers (wide and short) than standard pliers (thin and long).
Post pics of how it's unset and unaligned? It might be easily fixed.

Thankfully I took a pic of them BEFORE I used them heres how they looked BEFORE I used them

And heres how they ended up looking after I used them

As you can see the head got misaligned

return them

You got them from KoA, right? Send them an email or call them. They'll probably exchange it. You might have gotten a bad one, not properly hardened or something.
Speaking of which, my pliers are still sitting here and I haven't gotten my rings. It's been like 6 months or something. I need to contact them too.

Wow, that's worse than I expected. From the pics it doesn't look like the pin bent, that would be an easy fix. Definitely call/return them.

I got them from By the Sword, problem is they took a few months to get here I hope I can return them. I do know it will cost me money to return them or exchange them. Not sure how much it will cost me but I BETTER be able to exchange them for a replacement...
