Well, there were all sorts of crazy designs for bucklers over the years. But that steering wheel looks out of place to me. :)

Well, it's not period for I.33, but it's totally period for the 16th century. There're a number of originals that have that "steering wheel" to catch an oncoming thrust.
I actually bought one of these when MRL first came out with it, because as far as I'm aware, no one replicates these. I had to give MRL kudos for replicating a design that is historical and yet probably not very popular to modern audiences because it looks so odd to modern eyes.
