I figured now would be as good a time as any to get this on the radar! The Knightly Order of the Fiat Lux's Triangle NC Chapter will be holding a European Martial Arts seminar at Camp Royall in Moncure, NC on September 24th and 25th. Activities include various fighting competitions, classes, seminars, and roundtable discussions on all sorts of interesting and relevant topics! And on top of that, unless my information is incorrect, it's only $10 for the weekend! It would be great to see some representation from the Order of the Marshal and Modern Chivalry in general.
They even have a site for the event! http://kofl-temac.org/

That sounds like a lot of fun! I doubt I'll be able to do it, though. It's the one weekend immediately between WMAW and my wedding. Busy, busy, busy.
-
Always worth a shot! Trust me, I know what a slammed schedule is like!
-
Man I would love to go to this...Me thinks I'll have to start wooing the wife to see if I will be able to
"borrow" her car...mine is not trustworthy enough for such a trip. :-\
So pencil me in as a remote "maybe"! ;)
-
How far is this from DC? I have a sister-in-law in Raleigh-Durham so that might be doable.
-
You can actually get a map right from the site! Looks like it'd be about a 5 hour trip if all goes well. I'll be driving a good 3-4 myself!
And Sir Brian - bring the wife! I'm fairly certain that there'll be plenty for the Ladies to do as well. I'm not the one organizing this one, so I can't say for certain!
-
Wow, $10 is a fantastic price for that! I think that's one of my wedding weekends, so I'm a "maybe", depending if we can get out of the wedding (we're just guests, not part of the wedding party).
(The title says 24-15 but should be 14-15. Just a heads up :))
-
Since it isn't a holiday weekend, the traffic shouldn't be too bad...depending on what time I leave. Hmm...might spin this as a 'lets go see your sister' and then 'oh, I had heard there's to be a medieval style conclave happening not too far away' - think it'll fly?
lol
I just read that this event will be to raise money for the Autism Society of North Carolina...this makes me want to go even more.

Hmm I don't think I'd be able to drag her away from MDRF for one day let alone two! Besides she will probably be exceptionally busy at MDRF swapping unattended mortal children with changlings! ;)

Ah, then it's not one of my wedding weekends. The looming question will be the honeymoon. I may be able to attend this; I especially like that it's for charity.
-
really cool man.
-
Well let's change my 'remote maybe' to a high probability! I broached the subject with my love last night and she was more than fine with me being away for the weekend and in fact was more dubious about being without her new car than with me! - So she won't be going with me pretty much as what I expected since she can't drag herself away from seeing all the wee ones at MDRF. ;)
-
Changelings you say? I think I may have a child in need of being switched for a well-behaved changeling. It would be a marked positive difference, I assure you! LOL
As for this trip...I've yet to broach the subject w/my wife, but I will soon. We shall see...
-
Well if she can spare you for the weekend and you want to ride down together I have to ride through your neck of the woods anyways. ;)
-
This sounds awesome, but alas, as I am on cast at PaRF I can not make it. Those of you who do go, have fun.
-
Sir Brian, I shall keep that in mind! I will need to check with Milady, of course. :)
