Great article. This is a true hero, who lost his life due to making the moral choice.

He got to move on with honor and, as you said, as a true hero ... and in true spartan (or knightly) fashion. I am sure he was proud to make that last stand.

I'm glad nobody got their knickers in a twit about the ship naming, and it's a good way to honor his sacrifice and service.

I remember this...he's from Patchogue, NY - this town shares the same school district as Medford, which is where I was raised.  Since he's a couple years younger I did not know him in school- but for some reason this has more impact, I guess because I might have known him.

James, to hell with anyone who does...this man is the epitome of 'courage under fire', literally.
