In a way, it's nice to know that you can use either for the 14th and 15th century.

Which do you prefer? I like the way the flat rings lay better.

Pre 10th century is mostly, if not all, flat as I recall right?

nope
most riveted rings are actually round. flat riveted is around but comes in heavy toward the 14th/15th c. now flat solid are a good portion flat. but there are so many variances its crazy ehhe

I prefer flat rings, they're stronger than round and less heavy. I do however believe most maille made back then used various ring sizes for different parts. Something that isn't very much seen in modern reproduction maille.
