Hi everyone,
New to the forum, been re-enacting various periods for about 20 years now. Currently portraying an English 15th C Mercenary, either as an armoured man at arms or specialist Crossbowman/Gunner. We're UK based (Derbyshire) and spent a happy season last year with Buckinghams retinue (Warwick Castle, Bosworth Field and Blore Heath) and as the 'House Band' with Ravencrest at Tutbury Castle as a regular small event. My partner. Lady Elenna De Vargr is a historical seamstress ansd researcher and my two step sons (Tristan and Mathgwyne) are portraying a man at arms or gunner and an archer respectively.

Hi Capt Ed, a fellow country man.
Our group are at Tutbury in April for the first time, do you have any heads up about the place? lol ;)

Hi,
The Castle is nice, the lady who is curator can be a little prickly but she's OK and keen to promote re-enactment at the venue. If you stay on her good side you'll be OK! If you can camp in the actual castle do, the car park fields tend to be prone to midges.
Who are you with? We might pop up and say hello!

Hi Cpt Ed,
Isn`t the curator the advisor off Most Haunted ?? I would expect her to be a bit fussy lol ;)
Yes I think we are inside ( if we all fit lol)
We are The Freemen of Gwent. Jason (from the Levvy) is organising the weekend and we have archers Meibion Y Ddraig ( sons of the dragon) joining us too, so it should be a good weekend in all. We will be focusing our show around John of Gaunt as that is smack in the middle of our period.
If you pop in please do say hello ;D

There's quite a bit of room in the Castle itself, just steer clear of the Wedding Marquee (it's owned by a private company who lease the site) and make sure you leave the picnic tables free for the public (I know of one group who pinched them for an armour display and got a telling off!) It's got a lovely view first thing in the morning.

Wow...sounds like you guys have a really good time over there. I'm envious. :)
Welcome, Capt. Reech.
