Title: Pics from the last days of the 2010 MDRF
Post by: Sir William on 2010-10-25, 15:50:02
I only went on Sunday so that's when my pics are coming from.  Enjoy, fellow Knights!  Naturally, if you have other or better ones, please post them!

3 Chevaliers of Modern Chivalry and 1 Winsome Lass:

Being a huge Star Wars fan, I couldn't pass up this photo op:

I have always had a hard time saying 'No' to a fair maiden, but to two?  I merely smile and acquiesce.  lol

My wife likes to take candid shots but Sir Brian was too wily to be taken unawares:

I had a great time w/you guys- I know for my part I would've enjoyed more time but there's always next year and I've learned that there is value to scheduling your priorities in such a way as to not interfere w/that which you really love so, I'll be around more next year as it happens.

I also have to figure out a way to dress myself...anyone have any ideas?  I also wish someone would've told me my helm was off-center.  lol

Hah, honestly, I didn't notice. :)

Which parts are you having difficulty with? The kit you saw me in is the one I can do 100% by myself, though the chausses take about 20 minutes by themselves. Even when I was wearing spaulders with it, I didn't need help on those, though the strap around the bicep is tricky by yourself, and I cheated by having a hook at the top that just hooked into the mail.

Sure, Paladin, it's all about the look on a child's face ;)

The gorget and spaulders array...I just got to the point where I can get them to sit just so, but it required a lot of tweaking on my wife's part the first few times I wore them.  It also helps to have someone lace the greaves and vambraces tight enough to where they won't spin or slide.  Not to mention tying off the looser parts of the hauberk.  All that should be alleviated come next season but it was an issue for me THIS season.

Heh, whenever a young man starts asking me about armor, showing interest but not sure when he'd like to get some, I always have to point out that it's a chick magnet. A lot of women really are looking for their knight in shining armor. :)

Did I not mention it?  In THIS pic- the child was ME.  Can't you see the look of pure child-like glee in my eyes?  lol

Sir Brian, well said.  Sir Edward- excellent point, one that I rarely think to make, too...

BTW, Paladin, I like the spaulders and surcoat.

Thank you sir, I haven't worn that one in years, I was glad it still fit!  But it did show me the evolution of my kit as that particular one I'd gotten when I was putting together a 12th C kit w/out giving thought to the fact that black would not have been a garment color of the time.

Now, I'm all psyched for next year, even though I'm still pulling that one together...just some new additions really.  Don't ya just love it?

Sorry I missed you guys :(

Those pics look amazing and you all look great!

The wife and I had a rather fierce argument and I ended up leaving early.

There is much to be said about attending Faires alone.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. I know some folks spend the day mostly apart since they have different interests at faire, etc. Never any fun when it turns sour. :(

Truly sorry we missed you as well Silvanus!

I certainly know how it feels to have a spat with your spouse. Nothing seems right when things aren't right with your spouse. As per my forum motto:

Happy wife, Happy life!  ;)

Well said, Sir Brian.  I echo your sentiments- I'm sorry to have missed Silvanus as well, I thought perhaps my observational skills were off as I could not find you but now I understand.  Til the next time, brother.
