Hi, since I sort of listed this on AA, thought I'd cross-post it here.
I have a CoP for sale, actually. I'd be willing to let it go for $200 shipping to be picked up by me if necessary. I am not offering free shipping on AA.
Here are some pics. This is what it looks like when worn (model).
Measurements, as this was made for me, it should fit:
Height: 5'10" - 6'2"
Chest: 44"-48" (or more even)
Waist: 40"-44"
I weigh 185lbs and it fits me well w/an IceFalcon arming cotte (thick) underneath. The plates are 18 ga with rounded and beveled edges to mitigate wear and tear on the garment it is riveted into (as well as whatever clothing you're wearing). The straps are of black leather with steel buckles and fittings.
PM me if interested as I have not listed this item. I am looking for a leather brig w/steel plates if anyone wants to trade.
More pics:
And this is the actual CoP, front.

This is to show how the plates are laid out. Disregard the shoulder cops, they are not present on mine. Also, my CoP has a cloth backing over the plates to protect your arming wear.

And this is the back, so you can see the strapping and such.

Sorry for the poor picture quality.

Wow that is a pretty sweet CoP and at a great price. So who is jumping on this one? - I fear it would be a tad to small for me. :(
-
If you wore it w/out padding it might fit you but otherwise no. You're a good deal broader in the shoulders and chest than I am, Sir Brian.
-
It might fit me. It sounds like it definitely would if I wore it by itself. The question is whether it would still fit over the mail. I'm right near the waist limit, so that's where the concern is. I'd have a pourpoint and mail under it.
-
Thats a really nice looking COP and a great price. Who's the maker?
-
Armory World, in the Ukraine. They put a few of their wares up on ebaY (which is how I got this particular piece) but they haven't put anything up since.
-
If it fits me, I'm totally interested. I'd just have to see if I can fit it with the mail and pourpoint. I can probably put those on and take a measurement.
-
Alright, sounds good Sir Edward. The waist measurement should actually read 40" - 44" (the coat doesn't taper toward the bottom really, size wise it is pretty much the same up and down) so let me re do that.
Edited to add: I just came across a pm on AA that was sent earlier...he's interested but I can send him off if you're sure, Sir Edward.
-
wow awesome!
-
I'd also be willing to trade for a leather brig (that is, the small steel plates sewn into a leather shell and backed with either leather or cloth I guess) if anyone has one.
I haven't heard aught else from the guy so as far as I'm concerned, you've got dibs, Sir Edward.
-
Sir Edward, this guy's already got his money together, let me know if you're sure, otherwise, I'll let this other guy get ahold of it. I kind of need the funds.
-
Sorry for my late response, it was class night last night, so I don't always get back on the forum on Thursday evenings. Yep, as long as we think it'll fit me, I'm still interested. I can paypal it over to you if you like. If it ends up not working with my gear, you could always forward me that dude's contact info. :)
-
Ok, cool. I'll let him know. As for getting it to you...how do you want to do that?
-
woo hoo
and if it doesnt fit we can make Sir edward work off his belly to make it fit
-
Congratulations, Sir Edward :)
-
Ok, cool. I'll let him know. As for getting it to you...how do you want to do that?
Good question. You can mail it to me, or you can hand it to me in person the next time we meet up. I'm not in a hurry. I know you need the cash, so I'm happy to send you payment up front.

However you wish to do it is fine by me, Knight Commander. It is already boxed up so it wouldn't be too much for me to have USPS pick it up and bring it to you. I don't want to hang onto it and start having second thoughts! lol
PP is (REDACTED)@yahoo.com, do it as a personal whatever if you can.
-
OK, I sent it over, with my address in the comments.

Wow, I'm not on the forum for a few days or actually weeks I guess, and I miss all the cool stuff. Congrats to Sir Edward on snagging a sweet CoP. Sir William, if you are interested I might be able to set you up with the guy who made my Brig. Mine was copied from an example he saw in a French museum. I think he still has another one that's different from mine but that should fit you. If not, I'm pretty sure I could make one.
-
Sir Matthew, yours have the steel plates sewn on the inside, right? I'm interested. I tried on the CoP and just didn't like it.
-
Mine has steel plates riveted and sewn in. It was originally just riveted, but I sewed around the plates myself to make them stand out a bit. If you PM me you email addy, I'll pass it on to Bear and get him in touch with you. If you want, I think I have some decent pics of my Brig I can put up on FB and if not, I can certainly take some to give you an idea of the workmanship my freind does.
-
Sir Edward, you have a delivery! Got notification 9:30 this morning which is cool, since it only got picked up 4pm yesterday at the jobsite in Bethesda. I imagine if I'd used FedX ground or UPS, it might've taken a couple extra days for the package to wend its way to their central hubs out in the midwest before it made its way back. lol
-
Awesome! I'll take a look when I get home. Thanks!
-
pictures
-
None, yet. :)
It arrived safely! Wow, no more concern about it possibly being too small. Actually, quite the opposite. I feel like I could wear a Santa suit under it. Hah! I haven't tried it on with the other armor yet, but I think it'll still be loose. I may have to play around with the strap placement or something, and see if I can tighten it down more. As it is, right now I could wear it over the breastplate, I think. :)
-
Cool! Well now you don't have to give up your beer and donut diet! ;)
-

lol. In fact, maybe I need to increase the beer and donuts to make my armor fit better!

Ah your powers of spousal intuition are improving young padawan! ;)
-
I thought maybe I was doing it wrong...so it IS big. Ok, cool...at least you can modify it to suit- going the other way might be more problematic but as it stands, it'll accept quite a bit of body range. Glad it got to you in one piece, and so swiftly too.
-
grrrrrrrrrr pictures....... u have a wife and a camera phone!!!!1 heheehe

LOL so he does, so he does

Hey all, I think I may go ahead and put this back up for sale, same price (I'll eat the shipping). It's fairly big on me, and I just don't think I'm going to have the time to take it apart and resize it. If anyone wants to take a look at it tomorrow at the Longsword Practice, I can bring it along.
Otherwise, Sir William, do you remember who your other potential buyer was?
-
Hmmmmmmm I'm about to go broke from car repairs and a couple other things like owing an albion's worth of WV income tax, but if you don't mind bringing it along I'll see if it fits me or not and if it fits I'll put it on my "think about it" list and see if I get any side money soon.
-
OK, will do. I'll bring it along. Now I need to work up a packing list. :)
-
man that thing is cool
-
I was interested, but if it's big on you, it will definitely be big on me as well. Were you wearing it over maille?
-
Sir Nathan is giving it a try right now, so we'll see how well it works out for him.
I hadn't tried it on over mail yet, but I had so much room in it that it was clear my mail wouldn't fill the space. I wanted it to fit more snug on that kit.
-
Sir Edward, I'll hunt up his pm to me on AA.
Ok, his name is Chris Cottrell (on AA) and I just messaged him to see if he was still interested; let you know what I get. That is, if Sir James does not want it.
-

I'm letting Sir Nathan have a go at it first; it would be the start of an 8th harness for me, so it may be better that I don't pursue it. :)
-
I really like it :) I gave it a dry run w/o any armour yesterday and the fit wasn't actually bad. It'll fit well with my armour.
Sir Ed, I have the money for the price we agreed on. The deal sealer here will be the thickness of the plates. What gauge is it?
If it's combat ready, then I'm sold on it :)

Hey, sold! :D I'll try to get some pics of myself wearing it with my kit. :)
Sir Ed, I'll bring the money on the 15th.
-
that is so cool.
-
Awesome, enjoy!
-
SWEET!!!
-
we want pictures with your kit!
-
I echo Sir Wolf's demand for pictures! :)
-
Glad it's staying within the Order. I'm interested to see how it looks with your kit, I'm thinking of going with a CoP when I start assembling my 14th Century kit hopefully sometime over next winter.
-
i really need to make one as well, i am so lazy.
-
Yes and you had better snap to it or we’ll have to go all drill sergeant on your ass! ;)
-
i'm a staff Sgt in ww2 does that count? hehehe (how tall are you boy?)
-
Knights of Ni! We have brought you pictures! ;D
I really like it, it fits well over both my Gambeson and my Arming doublet, so I can use it with all my armour configurations! It also doesn't hinder my movement at all, and isn't as hot or heavy as a ciurass. It's also really protective. I wore it for 2+ hours of fighting in armour yesterday, and I took a good hard hip throw from a guy who does judo. I took it full on my back, and didn't feel a thing :)
-
heheh makes you look like fat hips and lil legs ehehhe
-
Lol, yeah. I'm guessing that ffect might have something to do with the prevelance of the long surcoat ;)
-
Looking good!
-
Phenomenal looking harness Sir Nathan! You put us all to shame! :)
-
Ha! :) I count myself fortunate that I can even stand amongst such wonderful kits seen within the ranks of such knights as yourselves!
-
That looks bad ass! It's settled, CoP it will be when I work on my mid-14th century kit. I really like that look.
-
Thank you Sir Matthew!
Go for it, you won't regret it. It is really protective and affords a lot of movement. Heck, I might even wear it for WMA. I barely notice it's there whenever I move in it.
-
Looks like it suits you better than it ever did me...which is funny since it was supposedly built based on my measurements, but the end result was far from it. Looks good on you, Sir!
-
Thank you Sir William!
I see I may have stumbled upon a most fortunate (for my kit anyway!) set of mistakes!
-

Mine for my new kit is similar to this COP in design and style, Sir Nathan. A Visby Coat of Plates Type III with 1.6mm steel plates and a black leather harness with brass hardware & rivots. How did yours fit out of curiosity??
-
Knights of Ni! We have brought you pictures! ;D
(http://modernchivalry.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1615.0;attach=1352;image)
Sir Nathan, as always your kit is so inspiring. I have to ask, are you wearing an armoured/padded hood/coif? I'm in the process of making one for myself right now, the protection given is so amazing, especially for my bad collar bone. Do they have precedence archaeologically? I know there are ton of them being sold and worn, I was wondering if there are period examples too? that would be sweet, it would save me time on making a padded three-piece coif just for my period impression for DOK and such. :)
Also, beautiful COP. My later period 13th century kit will have one for sure. And more than likely I'll even wear it with my earlier period and just "hide" it ;)
YIS
B. Patricius
PS my lady is laughing her butt off as we speak since I have no idea what "Knights of Ni" actually is... lol... nevermind lol, I get it now ;D been a while since I saw a Monty Python

By the way, about that CoP - I believe that Steel Mastery is the original builder of it. I think- I came across a set of pics that featured the guy whose CoP I bought (or rather, he had the pictures up on his site) - could be a generic 'share-all' pic as has been seen before but I do believe it to be a SM product. I'll see if I can find those pics again; I saw them and was like 'oh wow, really cool' but didn't bother to save the link.
Edited to add: found it. The pics of the light green one are the ones that I'd seen when I bought it.

That is a beautiful COP. I've been drooling all over Steel Mastery for quite a few years now. Namely:

They do have some great items there. I'm going to give them some business too.
