Title: Bob Anderson, Fencing Master 15 Sep 1922 - 01 Jan 2012
Post by: Sir William on 2012-02-16, 17:36:56
Did any of you know this?  A quick synopsis; if you don't recognize the name, you'll most certainly recognize his work.  He was an English Olympic fencer who went on to win great renown as the world's premier fight/stunt choreographer with a career that spans 50 years and includes such blockbusters as Pirate's of the Caribbean, Star Wars (all of Vader's fight scenes were performed by Anderson) and the Lord of the Rings trilogy; in that last, he went so far as to say Viggo Mortenson (Aragorn) was the best student he'd ever taught.  He was working on The Hobbit when he passed on New Year's Day, 2012.  His fight scenes, no matter the movie, stand as some of the best choreography ever seen onscreen.  I am quite sure he will be missed.

Rest in peace, friend.

Yeah, links about it got passed around quite a bit on facebook when he died. Sad to see him go. He's had a long career working on a lot of great films.

He got to live and breathe what he loved...swords.  If nothing else, that is enviable...especially for the likes of us!
