One of my all time favorites.  Saw one come up for sale on AA but I was too slow.

Nice! That would go well with just about any crusader-era kit.

Tempting..... I am debating. :)

Oh yes, that or their Hospitaller sword...that's a sweet Type XI.  Is it funny that the Templar one is the more popular of the two?  I can't recall ever seeing one of the Type XI's in a collection anywhere.  There's not even a review of one on MyA and they've got a review for nearly all of the Albion swords, including the Museum line.

Personally, I'm a bigger fan of the Hospitaller.  That's one of my daily 'check stock' items on KoA.  Something about the proportion of the pommel on the Templar throws it off a little for me, and I really dig the simplicity of the Hospitaller.

Man oh man,

I'm more of a fan of the Hospitaller too, but if I hadn't just invested a ton of money on other kit stuff, and needed a good cutting sword, I'd be all over this!  What an awesome find!  Thanks for posting this up Sir Ian!

There was a nice A&A type XI for sale on MyA not too long ago for a really good price...unfortunately, I blew my sword budget for the year on the Crecy and DBK scabbard that was built for it.  I'm not complaining mind you.

Templar's still there, they also have a

Ritter -black
Squire - dark brown
Machiavelli - oxblood
Allectus (And a used Allectus for almost $150 off the retail price)
Aquillifer
Huscarl - Dark Brown - Thorstein's name written all over it

If anyone ever sees a Yeoman, Knight or Hospitaller, or an A&A Durer please let me know! :)

I really like the Machiavelli, and may get one eventually. It's a little late for my main periods of interest, but I really like the sword, and of course there's some good documentation on its use out there too.

Sir Ian, there are two Albion Knights for sale on MyA - one for $500 + shipping being sold by Paul Hofmann, the other $700 shipped, being sold by Jim Adams.  They are still up, not marked sold.  I really wanted the Knight, but I just can't do it.

Oooo... thank you for bringing that to my attention.  I kind of bought a gun today though, so.... ahhhhhhhhh what to do?!?

I always look at it this way Sir Ian:
"Well I bought a gun today, so what does it matter if I spend $100 on a fine meal?!  I mean, the meal, in relation to the price of the gun, is nothing!" LOL and it's now turned into a tradition of sorts.  When one of us buys a gun in Prescott, we go to Murphy's afterward :D

So buy the sword Sir Ian, buy the sword!

Hey, at least you got a gun out of it. I just spent an Albion on tires.

Prepare for bad pun in 3.. 2.. 1..

What to do? Pull the trigger on buying the Albion Knight. $500 is way cheap, I paid almost $200 more for a used one last year. Don't think of what it'll cost you now ... think of what it'll cost you extra to buy it in the future if you don't buy it now. ;)

That's what I paid for mine, through ebay, several years ago. It's a fantastic price. And I hear Albion Knights compliment guns very nicely. :)

I'm so glad you did, Sir Ian.  Stops me from scrambling about trying to figure out what I can sell in order to get it.  Its probably the handiest sword I've never held- got to put Sir Edward's through its paces somewhat and was amazed at the handling- and the cutting power.  Took very little effort.  I know, I know...why didn't I get it, you might ask.

Because I blew my sword budget for the year, not to mention, I also have the Arn, or 'Irae' as I call her- not as mobile, but hits like an axe nonetheless.  That sword is like a really hot woman...can't keep my hands off her.  Heh.

How odd. You'd think the person would actually be interested in selling it. :) This would be strange, but I suppose it's possible they posted the message about it and then went away on a trip or something.

I'm assuming when he does check his messages they'll be about 30 people lined up to buy that sword since it's such a good deal.

"Honey, you have too many swords. You need to sell some."

"Oh, I'm trying, I put up a post online with some for sale. Did any packages come for me today?"
(while thinking 'if I just don't read my messages.....')

Yeah, it's hard to force a guy to sell a sword, who has a sword.

Unless you have more people with swords.

Who's in? :)

The squire was the one I originally wanted actually, till I realized it was too late for my period I am reenacting (late 1200s early 1300s).

I was thinking of buying it but ... this one screams Sir Ulrich or Silvanus. Seeing you wanted an Albion. This one IS 13th century.

Title: Re: Albion Templar in Stock
Post by: Ian on 2013-06-17, 15:38:49
Just so you realize, that's not an Albion Squire.  The Albion Squire is one of their next gen line Type XVI single handed offerings:

http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/nextgen/sword-medieval-squire-xvi.htm (http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/nextgen/sword-medieval-squire-xvi.htm)

And that sword retails for $1,016.  There's one in stock at KoA right now for $991 with a dark brown grip here:
http://kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=ANS12&name=Albion+Squire+Sword (http://kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=ANS12&name=Albion+Squire+Sword)

The Ebay sword is really an Albion Squire Line "13th Century Knightly" which is their more affordable line of swords here:
http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/squire/sword-squire-knightly.htm (http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/squire/sword-squire-knightly.htm)

That sword brand new is $473.  The grip job and simple leather scabbard it comes with in my opinion don't justify the added cost for a used sword.  You could get a brand new one with a leather scabbard for about the same amount of money.
Title: Re: Albion Templar in Stock
Post by: Sir William on 2013-06-17, 15:48:53
The 13th C Knightly from Albion's Squire Line of swords is as sweet handling as you'll likely find for a singlehand sword from pretty much any pricepoint.  The only difference between it and the Next Gen line Knight is a higher refinement of parts (crossguard, pommel/rivet block) and higher level of finish to the entire sword.  This sword is more utilitarian in design, what you'd expect to see on the belt of a man-at-arms or maybe a newly belted knight.  A very solid sword, I had one myself.

As Sir Ian said, however, this man is asking for more than the usual- I think I sold mine for at or around $300.  The grip upgrade alone would probably run about $70 - even brand new you'd only pay $543 ($473 for the sword, $70 for the grip work) - so this isn't a good deal. The simple leather scabbard is just that- I doubt it was made for the sword, just thrown in as a blade protector.

Let us not forget, as far as the seller knows, this is the only SL Knightly with this specific grip customization on the planet.  My thinking is, this guy doesn't get out much.  lol

Hospitaller with a black grip in stock!!  This is a really nice sword for a 12th C crusader impression.  Very simple, but I think it's beauty is in its subtlety.

it does allow me to focus more on my armament for my 13th Templar though.  Not going to lie though, showing up for "Ren" fighting as a galloglaigh is going to be FUN :D
