Title: Campgrounds or any Fields ner Maryland Faire
Post by: Sir Robert on 2010-09-10, 17:32:31
Greetings Fellows

This seems to be an odd question but I am looking for a field, lot or heck just about anywhere to park my camper overnight near the Maryland Faire, we are totally self-contained so I don't need anything onther than a parking space but I don't even know of a Wal-Mart anywhere close to the Faire. I was wondering if any of you may know of such a place, we have stayed at the KOA but its very expensive ($80 a night), I would gladly pay something but really thats quite a lot for just a parking space. I checked with the Faire and they do not allow overnight parking but parking during the Faire is fine. Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure about campgrounds or anything like that; I've never looked into it. The Annapolis Mall is only a couple miles away, east on 450. I'm not sure what their policy is on overnight parking.

There is a RV park in Upper Marlboro Maryland that lists its rates at half that of the KOA for a full hookup.

Shockingly enough there isn't a Walmart yet in Annapolis but there is a Home depot that is a couple of miles away from the RenFaire if you want to park it there.  :)

Thanks, we are looking into them as possible sites and may stay at the camp site next weekend so thanks for the replys. Let me know if anyone is comming up to the PA Faire, unfortunately the entertainment is a bit thin this year, and many of our old friends have decided to sit this year out but its always good to see my fellows!

Glad to help.  :)

We were considering maybe doing a day trip up to PARF again since I haven't done PARF in armor this year. I will let you know if we decide to run up there!  ;)

We don't often get up to PARF, so we might have to think about it. My fiancee and I are going to be guest cast at the Pittsburgh faire on the weekend of the 25th though.

For real?  That would be awesome!  Are Pittsburgh and the PARF not the same?

Which of the two is better, in your op?

Wow, complex question. :) PARF is the larger of the two, and closer to us DC-area folks. PARF is a pretty robust faire, with probably the biggest complaint being that half the site is paved. It's hosted at a winery (like VARF, but a full blown faire with permanent structures), so there's wine tastings and the like to do in addition to the regular faire activities.

Pitt is a little smaller, but has a lot of charm. It's a very natural site, with a good portion of it being wooded. I've only been there 2 or 3 times, and it's been a few years, so I'm curious to see how it's changed. My understanding is that they don't have a lot of street-cast (hence their call for volunteer cast), and I think they went through a few years of financial troubles that they're digging out of now (if I recall correctly). But it's certainly a nice little faire, at least as of my last visit.

Paved areas...yea, she mentioned that, it sorta kills the ambience.  Still, I wanna check it out...probably won't do the Pitt one since its so far away...but who knows, right?
