The Maryland Renaissance Festival Weighs New Opportunities
January, 2009 While the Maryland Renaissance Festival continues to operate at its present location for the next several years new opportunities are being investigated to offer the customers additional activities and attractions. The possibility of relocating the festival to provide greater future opportunity and service is being considered. Customers will be able to contribute to the process as plans unfold. Presently we are looking at several very promising potential properties to provide the village, parking, access and future growth potential while retaining the charm and unique character of the present facility. We hope you will continue to come visit us at our present home and join us in the anticipation of even greater merriment!

PARF is very expensive, but they often have special rates for different groups (like military, emergency services workers, etc.) that I will try to post over here as I find out when they will be. I live in Pa and am a season pass holder, so I am there almost every weekend and may be able to help people from the board by picking up tickets at a cheaper rate for them as they are available. Just let me know when you are looking to come. It would also give me the opportunity to return some of the welcome I have been shown by others when visiting their home faires and meet new people from the boards in person.

Anyone going to the NCRF? My Lady and I will be meeting up with Dragonlover and his Lady on the second weekend, which is on April 4th & 5th. Will anyone else from this august forum be attending?

Yes we read about that on their website and have made hotel reservations that are near to their
new site...I hope they have a great turn out this year to help support their new location! :)

Anybody planning on attending the CRF this year? We're trying to get a much of the Fiat Lux present as we can on Halloween and plan on showing up around 10am. I'd love to meet up with some of the folks here!

I think the plan for my girlfriend and I so far is to come down there on Nov 14th. We're busy with one thing or another pretty much every weekend before that. :)
It would be great to meet up with the Fiat Lux group!

Really wanted to get down this year since by brother is living in Columbia, SC about an hour or so away, but doesn't look like it's happening.

A bit of incentive for folks to come on the 14th: If all goes according to plan, my squire may be receiving a public knighting by myself and the assembled Fiatians right smack in the middle of the faire! Is it a safe assumption you guys'll be there all day?

Excellent! My squire and I would be honored by your attendance, and I'm fairly certain the fairegoers will get a kick out of it, too! If all goes according to plan, I'm hoping for around noon or so, though times may change to suit schedules. Stay tuned!

Most excellent. I'll try to have the camera handy. We're hoping to drive most of the way down there on Friday, so it should be possible to get an early start on Saturday.

weather looks GREAT all week-end my good sirs! 69 and partially sunny on Saturday, and
70 and sunny on Sunday. I shall also bear witness Sir James! Vivat! :)

Yeah, I looked at a report this morning for CRF that said 72 and 73 degrees, partly cloudy to sunny, all weekend! I'm tempted to wear my 14th C armor all weekend. I definitely gear up tomorrow, but we'll see how I feel on Sunday. If I do wear the armor twice, I may leave the shield and helm in the car on Sunday and let the hair be free and the shoulders light of weight. :)

Just a quick update on the knighting - it's looking as if we may do the cermony in front of the Faire instead of inside, as some wish to attend, yet can't afford a ticket. Either way, I'll be both inside and out, so feel free to keep an eye peeled for the red and white!

keep in mind a lot of lower Va and Nc are under water. so might plan for some extra travel time.

Well, I'm back from CRF. What a great weekend, and I'm tired. :) I'll post some pictures soon.
It was great to have a chance to meet Sir James and several of the other Fiat Lux knights, including witnessing the knighting on Saturday! It's a shame NC is so far away. It took us a good bit of the day today to get home, even with driving about 2 hours of it last night.
And it was of course nice to see our forum friends there as well!
It's hard to believe another faire season is drawing to a close.

Rosemary and I had a fantastic time and are both happy we were able to see so many of our faire
friends at the last faire event of the year for us! As always thanks to Jake and his lovely Lady for
your wonderful hospitality!
