Just spotted this thread on myArmoury and thought I'd pass it along in case anyone is interested:

He's selling some used Merc's Tailor armor, for $350, that includes: "a breastplate, which is a little on the smaller side. Pair of pauldrons, vambraces, greaves and a gorget."
-
Sounds like a good basis for a transitional period, or fantasy "half armor" kit.
-
I'd love to know the size of the breastplate.
-
Allan's selling some more bucklers, in case anyone is interested. I've found mine to be just right, in terms of size and weight.

Having handled said buckler, I will vouch for it being a great piece.

Goes without saying, but I have a set of them and love them. Also have a set of the 'original' style too. The new style with the double-plate wrap & steel hinges instead of leather is much nicer, and a little better coverage. The double-plate wrap makes it easy to sit down without it pinching/binding the back of your leg like a large single plate can sometimes do.

He's got some modified legs up on AA...I so want them but I already have a set. I'm trying to, you know, keep costs from ramping way up what with the new house and all. I'm failing miserably currently but hey, we all gotta cope any way we can, right? lol

Purchase them. Or I shall taunt you again! :D

I have those same arms and espauliers. The ones listed have the sweet rotating vambrace / bracer, and of course, the flexibility is beyond what my arm can even move like. That's a perfect set for a late transitional harness.

Allan is selling a set of 14th C. legs:

And arms as well, same board. I've been flirting with the idea of picking up both the arms and legs as he and I are about the same size- but I don't want to right now!!!
lol

Shall I begin the "do it" chants again? And get group support? :D
Seriously though, as with all of Allan's armor I've seen, they're great quality. I wore those same legs and 95% similar arms (mine have a "full" rerebrace instead of 3/4), and they fit and work great. If you want to journey into the world of 14th century plate, you won't find anything of that quality for cheaper - and as we all know, Allan is a limited resource, so when something is available that we want, we should jump at it. :)
-
You are right, of course. I'm slowly moving toward that time frame but really, I'm also pursuing it from a comfort level and ease of usability. Like I'm more interested in splinted arms and legs because I've taken a shine to Sir Brian's...and I've noticed he moves very naturally, not making allowances for restricted movement or a changed center of gravity due to wearing it.

Splinted armor is pretty, isn't it?? :) BUY BUY BUY!!! Mixing up leather gear with the plate doesn't feel as rigid, I agree. Transitional armor works real well.

I always fancied the splinted armor look since it isn't very common and some of my pieces actually show signs of battle wear since I've worn my vambraces and elbow cops during WMA training. ;)
