Just thought I'd point this out. Some good deals on these swords, considering they're like new.

That Landgraf has a blue grip? If I didn't already have one, I'd snatch that up. It's turned out to be one of my favorites. Oh, and the Munich is a really sweet sword. If I didn't already have something based on the same museum piece, I'd consider that one a priority for my collection as well.
-
That Landgraf caught my eye the other day when I first saw it posted. I just found out my Crecy finally shipped though, should be here tomorrow in fact, so I'm trying not to get ahead of myself. Although right now I must admit I can't stop looking at the A&A Durer and the A&A Black Prince...
-
Wow, the Landgraf is down to $700. Good deal.
-
Yeah that's a sweet deal. I don't personally dig the blue grip, but it's quite tempting at that price point.
-
But I do...if only I could afford it right now.
-
Why are all the good swords on sale blue or green grips? It's like they're made specifically for Sir Edward or Sir Brian. Does no one use black grips on sub-$1k swords anymore? :)
-
Everyone knows that Sir Brian and I are the Internet's most illustrious knights, and they're showing their support.
Right. I didn't believe that either. :)
-
Hey babe didn't you hear that green is in vogue now? 8)

Because black is ubiquitous for unimaginative. lol
Altho, your arms being black I see your point. lol

Yeah, but, congrats on getting the house! And ...... where would you keep Albions? In a house. What did you just buy? A house. I think you can see the outcome. ;)
-
Thank you, Sirs!
LOL @ Sir James...you Sir, are a darker influence than I would have thought! But your reasoning is ironclad...and they are much more secure in this new house than they ever were in the previous...heh.

My wife and I are in the preliminary stages of house shopping. With gas a high as it is and our neighborhood rapidly declining in civilized populus, we both have decided it's finally time to move closer to our jobs. We work at different places within like 4 miles of each other, but live like 19 miles away, which wouldn't necessarily be so bad, except we work very different shifts so carpooling doesn't really work. An all but 40 mile a day roundtrip is really starting to eat away at the budget. We got some minor credit stuff our realtor is helping us to clear up and hopefully then we can find something nice with like 5 miles of our jobs. So far what we have looked at has not really met our expectations :'(

Congratulations Sir William! Now your decisions will boil down to Albion or lawn mower, Albion or furnace, Albion or water heater, Albion or vacation, etc. Before being "downsized" at work I found a ratio of 1 armour/weapon purchase for every 3 major necessary expenditures worked well. Keep in mind that a major purchase for your Lady IS a necessary expenditure. ;)
-
And that's the thing, Lord Rodney...finding the budget for all of them! As you say, I do need a lawnmower, now that I have actual grass to cut! As for the little woman, she makes her own expenditures weekly at local boutiques, I may get a pass every now and then. I do, in fact.
But what I'm really wanting is a full-on custom, from Odinblades. Really dig his work. http://www.odinblades.com (http://www.odinblades.com) - been ogling his wares for the last ten years, ever since I first saw them. http://www.fableblades.com (http://www.fableblades.com) is another I'll be wanting one from soon...he did his own take on the Boromir sword that was head and shoulders above any other I've ever seen, Christian Fletcher's included.
-
Well, what you do is buy the sword, then cut the grass for the next year with a pair of scissors. :)
-
trust me, get the mower, or she may make u use your swords on the grass
-

Why use scissors when he'll have a nice, new, sharpened sword? ;)
-
The grass will never get that high. I hope. LOL
Altho the idea of practicing cuts on the lawn is appealing...if for no other reason than to cause some consternation amongst my new neighbors. :)
-
If the grass gets aggressive enough that you need a sword, I think I'd want to move. It shouldn't behave like it's possessed by an elder god. :)
Then again, I heard a quote once which I think seems fitting. To paraphrase... Even mundane tasks such as scrubbing a toilet would seem heroic when set to the theme music of Conan. So crank up that stereo and get to chopping! :)
-
Here’s your solution. You can purchase a blade(s), “swing” them through your grass, get good practice with blade sharpening, get exercise, and have enough bread left over to start a good Albion fund. ;D
-
LOL
That's a good one...I just watched the new version...I gotta say, for me, Jason Momoa embodied the spirit (and physicality) of the Cimmerian in a way Ah-nuld never could. The music was good too.
Lord Rodney...I think I'm gonna do both...
-

Come see my yard some time this summer. :D

Somehow I've missed this one. Apparently Bill has attempted to sell it off and on over nearly three years?
http://www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=17109&highlight= (http://www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=17109&highlight=)
He last dropped the price to $575 for the sword and scabbard. It's not a true Albion, it's an Angus Trim blade with Albion hilt furniture. AT blades are pretty good, IMHO. This is a pretty good deal.
It looks like he took the sale offer down though.
-
I saw that one...I got enough similar swords that I didn't want another. Would've been a nice pickup but I'm wanting/needing a bastard/longsword as the only one I did have I got rid of. Well, I have a H/T but I want an Albion Crecy all of a sudden. lol
I think one of the sticking points for some, I know at least for me, is that it is heavily used; and you're right, Atrim blades aren't just good, they're really good!
-
For all of you crusaders out there:
Albion Templar for sale, $700, dark brown grip!

Nice, so many temptations!
Personally, I'm not buying any more Albions at least until I get the one that I still have on order. :)
-
good idea 8)
-
My Arn's a better sword (in my not at all humble op lol) - got enough single handers for now too. I'll admit, at one point I really, really wanted that one...would've gotten it too but I saw the Arn and fell head over heels so I went with that instead.
I never did a photo spread of it have I? So many things I need to take pics of.
-
doooooo ittttttttt

I vaguely recall you had some pictures as your signature line on here before, with the new scabbard, but my memory is a bit fuzzy on it.
-
Huh...but no uber sexy profile shots and the like. I'm not much of a cameraman I'll grant you...what I see thru the lens for some reason does not translate into the picture it would seem. Hence why I normally am lax about taking them. lol
-
I'll give you some tips: If you can take pictures outside on an overcast day, the lighting will be best. But barring that, if you're going to shoot indoors, turn on all the lights in the room first, and turn off the flash on the camera. Make sure you hold the camera really still since non-flash shots have a longer exposure time indoors. Take the shot 2 or 3 times to be sure you get one that's not blurred.
If you can do all that, I'll be happy to fix contrast and the like on a few of them for you.

Albion Crecy, $650:

I talked to M'sieur Tremblay about that very same one- he had nothing but good things to say about it, then I got a note about a 13thC greatsword w/scabbard and belts for less than the Crecy so I hopped on that...we shall see if I have cause to regret it.
