Man walks 60 miles in suit of armour to royal wedding
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-13233310 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-13233310)

"Colin Bickers agreed to make the 60-mile (97km) journey in the five-stone (32kg) suit for a bet at a local pub."

Just for reference, 32kg = 70.4 lbs.

I think I found him on facebook.

I sent him a note, but he'll probably never see it, since it's going to the "other" folder. I didn't even know about that folder until I did so, and it told me as such. Now I see that other people have contacted me over the last two years without me realizing it. Yeash...

It was for the royal wedding after all...and he raised quite a bit of money for a charity as well.  Good on him.

As somebody with a suit of armor a bit over 70 pounds .. and somebody who can't walk 60 miles *without* armor (heck I can't even walk 6 miles!)... that man's accomplishment is phenomenal to me. Walking in armor 10 miles for 6 days in a row is pretty wild. I do wonder if he's wearing full hauberk and/or butted or something; just from visual, I'm curious how his armor is 70 pounds.

I had the same thing with that "other" folder on FB.. found a message that was many months old when I discovered it months ago. FB wants to charge you $1 to send a message to someone's regular inbox if you aren't on their friends list. I'm not sure if that's money-grabbing marketing, or a way to cut down on non-friends spam.

Don't join the Army or Marine Corps then! ;-)

MD Renn Faire is in Crownsville, MD, about 20 miles from Baltimore. Or there's some kind of local "M.D. renfaire" in Reno?

Ah, then I guess he misread, Nate said walk "from Baltimore to the M.D. renfaire", which is only ~20 miles. Not to walk there from home. Or I'm completely lost. :)

Humping 60 lbs for 10 miles is kind of a ‘cake walk’ for a grunt. One of the requirements for the Expert Field Medic Badge was to do a forced road march with the standard fighting load (48 – 60 lbs. plus an 8 lbs aid bag) within 3 hours which most candidates ran half the distance for bragging rights for getting the best finish time. As for me that was 30 years ago and my feet still haven’t forgiven me! ;)
