As of today I turned 61. I desire to re dedicate myself to the aspirations of a Knight .
To every part of the code I live by. I desire to be a godly man in thought word and deed.
Ready at any moment to take my stand against those who seek to destroy.

Happy Birthday!
My step-father is to be 61 soon, is a Class B fencer, SCA Raperiest, and Knight in the SCA. His best friend since high school is a class C fencer, does HEMA, teaches fencing at Truckee Meadows Community College, is also a KSCA, and is 62. And that's just the beginning.
I know many "old grey beards". I shall have to find some vid of them fighting & share it.

I would love to see them. My fighting was done in the mountains of New York with a musket. Painted as my ancestors.
To hit and run and hit again. There was no public allowed at these events.

Since I have no Idea how the fencing system works, I have about one years worth of fencing experience. I never went to tournaments. even though I had been valid enough to do so for a few months. I guess I might be a class G fencer.. If you meant sport fencing at least....

Thank you all.

Happy Birthday! (Sorry for the lateness)

Happy Birthday! As Thorsteinn mentioned, it’s the grey beards that creak and groan as they take the SCA list field that concern me the most. They’ve forgotten more than I’ve learned. 8)
Although ... it’s a bit frightening to know that some of the kids I’m fighting today weren’t born the first time I put on armour. :o

Not 3 years ago I did some Choi Li Fut lessons where the assistant instructor was born 4 years after I started training (same girl I once spoke of, ahem, schooling during a lesson).

Happy belated, good sir! 61 is a good age- like a well laid bottle of wine, you'll only get smoother with time.

Here is video from a demo that has Duke John the Mad Celt (he is the short one and is over sixty) fighting with his "unbelievably long sword of ouch".

Never give up never. As Caleb in the Old Testament said I am in my 80s , but as strong as in my 40s for battle.
Give me the mountains.

Best wishes.

Hail, Brother Daniel!
Glad belated tidings on your special day.
61 is not, I should think, an old age to be in this day and age, especially if one is young at heart and embraces the joy in the world. As an old mentor of mine used to say; "Any day above ground is a good one" and I find at my own age (53) this gets more true each year :D We are as young as we feel I think and having a noble cause most certainly has helped me in that endeavor.
I am the eldest of three brothers. The younger ones are 6 and 8 years younger than myself, respectively, yet everyone who meets us thinks that I and the youngest one. Why? Well I think its outlook, attitude, the embrace of joy and well...and certain degree of Peter Pan like immaturity as well ;) Sadly, my brothers do not embrace the gift of life as I have. I certainly wish they would but indeed many folk are uninterested in anything beyond the 'bread and circuses' of the day-to-day world. I wish you well in your quest for Knighthood, Brother Daniel. May it bring you satisfaction, honor and gladness.

Tis a noble cause indeed. Thank you all.
