Title: Hauberk Allbeststuff
Post by: Sir Nate on 2014-02-24, 00:51:39
Well Im buying a Full round ring riveted mail, long sleeve 9mm hauberk from Allbeststuff.com
Ive been Eyeing it and have made the decision to purchase it.
It comes out at $302.55, and there are some good reviews of it. For the price and quality I find it extremely worth it.

Are you going to be fighting in the great helm? If so I recommend Clang or some other armorers for some tougher stuff only slightly more expensive.

That looks like a loose rendition of a Pembridge...good deal on the maille but if you're looking to be historical, that helm's a little late for you, Nate.

I think I paid about the same (or more) back in the mid/late 90s for butted mail, too. Craziness!

You can tell Nitin to taper the sleeves for you, if you want. I got an 8mm 17 gauge hauberk from him with alternating flat punched and round rings and tapered sleeves.

I had to trim the sleeves on this one by a bit because of their length. Might make mittens out of that extra maille.

Careful, don't just buy what you want, or you may regret it later when you find another thing you want. Spend wisely. Plus that is a mid 14th century helm you picked out.

Good idea, Do I just call and ask to have it tailored before or after I order?

I asked him before I ordered, and he told me that I should just include it in my order notes.

Do I include nay size measurements? or do I just request it be tailored so there is no sag, or for an incline?

I just asked him to taper the sleeves to a certain diameter on mine. You could probably ask him for more specific tailoring, though.

Update: it has been over 2 weeks since I ordered And it still has not came to my Door.
Should I call?
How long does shipping from India usually take?
If normal shipping is a week. Then maybe over seas is 2-3 weeks.

It depends if it's coming by air or by sea.  A lot of overseas shipments come be container ship, and they generally don't ship until they have a full container to send.  So if you're the first order in a brand new container, then you may be waiting a while, that and the transit by sea is several weeks long before it hits customs in the US and then is introduced to our courier system.

How did you specify shipping?  If it wasn't UPS or FedEx, DHL etc... then it's likely just international freight (i.e., on a ship).

On their website they don't specify shipping options. The only option available is "US".

From what I heard it can take it a week...up to even over a month...just depends on customs and the sort.

Update: They emailed me 11 days ago stating the order is ready they just needed some measurements. I supposed what took a while even for that is maybe they had to make the Hauberk.
Asked how long until it arrives, I am very excited.
P.S. I also have just received my double wrap belt from KoA and it fits well, and is 100% better for making you medieval ware fit well than your ordinary belt.
