Title: Darkwood German Federschwert (practice longsword)
Post by: Sir Edward on 2013-09-25, 18:04:55

I had a chance to handle these at WMAW:

I'm going to start recommending these to people. I still think the Albion Meyer and A&A Fechterspiel are some of the best options on the market, but for under $400, these are a very good option.

They handle well, have nice thick edges for safety, and are lighter than the Meyer. You can get away with less safety gear when using lighter trainers, so these are nice from that standpoint.

Hope they work for C&T combat too.

Yes they are good blades! Just don't get the rings added as they are still perfecting the design on them! ;)

Based on the videos you posted, yes, I think they're fine for that.

Ed, how would you compare it to a Regenyei Feder? My HEMA group can get Regenyei's for 350 shipped and it looks like the Regenyei is a bit longer (which I prefer as I am 6'5) and might have a nicer pommel for weight...but again that is just based on looking at that website you linked.

I am thinking about to start saving up for a Feder and am currently torn between an Ensifer, Pavel Moc and Regenyei...

Unfortunately I haven't handled one from Regenyei to compare. :(
