Who is your favorite Marvel character and why? It could be a hero or a villain. Mine is the "Merc with a Mouth", Deadpool, for no other reason than he is the funniest and most entertaining to watch in action.

Damned hard question. So very many choices....
At the moment I'd go with Doc Strange.
-
I used to be a huge X-Men fan, but more recently I've become more interested in Marvel's space characters. I really dig Richard Rider as Nova.

Dare devil

If written correctly, Marvel's best character will always be Captain America.
That said, I have always loved Nightcrawler. Spidey is up there as is the obscure MoonKnight.
-
Hulk...always.
-
#1: Ironman because, come on, armor!
#2: Thor because STOP! HAMMERTIME!!
#3: Deadpool because comedy

ive always been the old man logan, er patch, er james, er whatever name he goes by now

Of all time? Captain America- even though I didn't have a large number of his comics (most of my collection were X-Men, Spidey, some Avengers, anything Punisher I could get my hands on and of course, Daredevil - anyone seen the show? Was AWESOME but I digress), I had a lot of respect for someone so upstanding as Cap. I also like that he's quite possibly the greatest hand to hand combatant in the MU, which affords him the ability to go toe to toe with much stronger and larger opponents and still- well, at least he doesn't get killed as a result. I was shocked that they killed him off- I think I took Superman's death much better than I did Cap's. So...in order:
1. Captain America
2. Spiderman
3. Wolverine
4. Daredevil
5. Punisher
Thor and Hulk are up there near the top- Thor, well, he's an Asgardian, how cool is that? And Hulk...I had rage issues as a child, I get them. I wasn't really a fan of Iron Man til the movies; to me he seemed less interesting outside of the armor. RDJ changed that for me.
Now, heroes from any comic universe, then Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman would be in there somewhere in the top 20...but below the Marvel characters. MU always seemed more realistic, despite the fantastic powers most of them have; they were always set in a place that I knew or could look up. Not so with DC. Also, their explanations as to how these powers were acquired, powered or used always seemed to be lesser than the pretty well thought out origin stories for the major MU characters.

My favorite Marvel character is Man Playing Galaga from The Avengers movie. ;)
Actually, it's a tie between Captain America and Iron Man for me. Of course, my familiarity with Marvel barely extends beyond a handful of the movies.
Though I do know that Nolan North has provided the voice of Deadpool in numerous media; that in itself is pretty awesome.

Moon Knight...got into him as a teen, really dug the schizophrenic side of the story, 3 split personalities, all of them working together as it were.
-
dude i used to read moon knight too lol
as an adult i read a lot of hell boy books.

I love hell boy.

Hellboy has books? I'd read'm!
I wanted to be Moon Knight, Black Knight and the Swordsman for obvious reasons. Oh, and the Crusader- anyone remember him? He fought Thor, sword to hammer and held his own for a while.

Not much love around here for Iron Man. I gotta give it to him.

I was shocked that they killed him off
Well that's a spoiler...

Only if you've been hiding under a rock (from a comics perspective). Marvel killed him off after the Civil War story arc; was an assassin who took him down while he was being escorted from court in handcuffs. I'll leave who the assassin is as a surprise, should they decide to pursue this story arc in the MCU. But yea, that took place several years ago. I was, needless to say, blown by the news. Even got some media coverage at the time.

Iron Man would have been my favorite, but only because I like Robert Downey Jr's portrayal of him so much, as opposed to his comics, which felt wrong in a sense.

I'm more of a DC guy, but Cap is awesome. I also liked Cyclops (and if we're talking villains, Doom and Magneto).
What?! No Rom, Shogun Warrior or Micronaut fanboys here?! ;)

Spoon?

Spoon?
Wrong genre. ;)
Though I’m partial to Die Fledermaus. ;D

I was a big fan of Rom the Space Knight (obvious reasons lol) and the Micronauts as a kid...but that was a long time ago, thanks for the memory necro! I'd forgotten about them. And Cyke's pretty awesome as well.

Speaking of Marvel, who here is looking forward to the rest of the Netflix series from the Marvel universe? IIRC Jessica Jones is coming out in a few months.

I'll be honest, I haven't exactly been up in arms over it- love Daredevil but haven't taken a look at any of the others. Jessica Jones I'd only heard of briefly as she came after my golden age with comics (age 8-19 lol) and I didn't get a chance to pick them back up until I was nearly 30.
I just looked, she's associated with Power Man and Iron Fist. Ok, that rocked it up to the top of my list!

Who was born on a battlefield? Who spilled more blood before 20 winters than Deadpool's entire career? Who stormed the walls of Venarium?
"What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky.
The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing;
Rush in and die, dogs—I was a man before I was a king."

Well...I didn't include him because, even though he has several titles in the MU lineup, he is not a Marvel superhero. That is, his genesis occurred elsewhere but who cares, he rocks.
Excellent quote; I'd completely forgotten it til I read it anew. ;) My favorite:
“Hither he came; black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet.”

Gambit or night crawler. Then again captain America is great
