Title: Greetings
Post by: Joseph. R on 2015-10-31, 02:24:12
Good evening, I'm Joseph although I usually go by Joe. I have spent/lost many an afternoon wandering around this forum attempting to learn all I can. I have always been interested in knighthood and living the ideals of chivalry. I would like to learn the art of the sword and how to make my own kit. Thank you for allowing me to guest here in your forum.
Joe

Well met Joe!  I think you'll find interests and topics that range from LARP to Living History and everything in between.

A favorite saying here is "If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong".

Welcome.  :)

Hail and welcome!

A second favorite quote around here is "What can we help you spend your money on today?"

I'm from northeast Kansas. Thank you all for the warm welcome.

There used to be a wonderful annual SCA combat event on base at Fort Leavenworth Kansas called "The Ransom of Layland".  Sadly, the Lady Layland passed away several years ago and the event came to a close.

Pre 9/11 a sleepy guard would just wave us onto base in the middle of the night, our trucks loaded with spears, polearms, shields and other medieval miscellany poking out all over the place.

Post 9/11 accessing the base in the middle of the night after driving from Minnesota was a whole other animal.  They would empty out every vehicle and search every armour bag.  We would draw quite a bit of attention.

What kind of kit are you interested in building?
Are you familiar with HEMA or WMA?
