It can be fun to poke around on flickr, photobucket, etc, and look for pictures people have taken of us at the various faires. I know we've posted some of them before, but I figured I'd start a thread devoted to it. :)
Here are some new ones from this fall 2010 season I found:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/doctorh62/4985571118/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/doctorh62/4985571118/)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/doctorh62/4044310220/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/doctorh62/4044310220/)
And here's one of Randy, though I don't think he joined the forum:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/9549670@N05/4980120440/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/9549670@N05/4980120440/)

Excellent find! :)
-
Yea, you guys looked awesome! Where were those taken at?
-
Those are all MDRF this year.
-
I had my pic taken by a few people, but I have yet to find them online. People like my outfit a lot though, you don't see many men-at-arms or common foot soldiers much.
-
thats why i like your kit. your right there aren't enough average joes out there heehhe
-
Agreed; which is why next year...oohhhh, but that'd be telling. lol
-
I still haven't given up on making a leper outfit... with a bell, and sign that says "unclean"... fake skin lesions... :)
-
Oh man...you know people would probably steer a wide berth around you just in case those were real! lol

A few non-forum folks from 2010 at MDRF:

Just don't make it a competition. Sir Brian will win! :)
-
Wow that is quite a few picts which I'm kind of glad for because Rosemary and I always forget to take our own pictures! :D

A few familiar faces here:

And here:

-
Caught Sir Brian in that video I did...and the Jousters of course...my apologies if I did not recognize anyone else...I'm still learning you guys!
-
The second video (here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_zHW3Kyxrw)) is interviewing Jon, my soon-to-be brother-in-law. Sir Brian and myself are standing behind him. What was great about that was that Jon hadn't been doing armor for very long yet, and it's very stylized non-functional fantasy armor made by the only plate-armor maker on site at MDRF. When the guy walked up and wanted to interview one of us, Jon happened to be standing closer and Brian and I got asked to take some pictures by people facing the other way. I actually thought that turned out well since Jon speaks well and we could let him take center stage a bit.

-
Go soon-to-be BIL Jon! Where was this done? I see you and Sir Brian are girded with swords. I love your interplay in the background.
-
This was at MDRF out in the "Serengeti" area, near the test of strength game, jousting area way off to the right and O'Shucks a short ways to the left. The swords we bring there are of course not real.
-
That's the first time I've seen the bracers and roundels on your kit, Sir Edward. Nice additions!
-
Thanks! Yeah, I need to figure out a better plan for those. I was using a combination of the bracers over the leather cuffs of the mail gauntlets, and the two would keep each other in place. But it means I can't take off the gaunts for important things like getting money out of my pouch, eating, etc. So lately I've been doing the lazy thing of going back to my old leather gaunts and bracers. I'm wondering if I need to point the bracers to my arming shirt or something so I can use different gaunts with it, or something. I'm still thinking about it.
-
sounds like you need a page or squire ;)
-
Oh, absolutely.
"Squire, pay the man"
"Squire, carry my banner"
"Squire, help me in the privy"
... OK, maybe not that last one. :)
-
Unless the squire is a girl, not related to you, of course. ;)
-
ooooooo good point there Paladin. good point indeed.
-
And then, just think of all the sword puns you could toss out there...
-
Sir Edward, would your squire follow behind you banging a pair of coconut shells everywhere you went? ;D
-
Red Knight, forsooth, your squire behaves in like manner? lol
-
Sir Edward, would your squire follow behind you banging a pair of coconut shells everywhere you went? ;D
Absolutely! So far I've done that only a few times. It's hard to find a good squire, even if it's only for 10 minutes. :)

Looks like you guys made those kids' day!
-
As it should be...it is seeing the shine in their eyes when they behold a knight in armor that sort of makes the whole day for me.

Here is three of Jon and Sir Edward. :)

Nice, I never even saw the photographer that time. I'm usually pretty alert about cameras around me, but I was sitting facing one way for a while there. :)
-
That's awesome man...a candid shot, those're the best.
-
That's awesome man...a candid shot, those're the best.
It looks like someone posted a shot on facebook of the three of us from Sunday. We'll have to get you on there so we can start tagging you in the photos. :)
-
You guys are gonna talke me into it, I know it...Meta and I had been talking about doing a page at length on FB- my whole family's on it; but we're just not that into it. I like flying under the radar as opposed to being on it.
I suppose I'll get to it eventually...everyone else already has! lol
-
Yeah, I was highly resistant to it at first. And then once I signed up, I didn't use it at all for probably a good 6 months. But then a certain critical mass was reached, where most of my friends were on there, and I was finding old long-lost friends and finding I could also keep in touch with faire friends and the like, that's when it became part of my daily life.
Now we all share photos, pass around links to funny videos, etc. It's a nice lightweight way for everyone to keep in touch.
Just note that if you post a ton of useless stuff constantly, I'll "hide" you from my news feed and never see you again... lol :)
-
OR you can let your wife become addicted to it and then create a FB account for you so she can send herself some Farmville items vicariously through "you"! ;)
-
LMAO @ you guys
That's why I'm loathe to get on...I can see my wife now.
-
FARMVILLE
ehheheh i hate that game
-
I missed that earlier...what's that mean?
-
Facebook has a whole bunch of games connected to it that people can play. Most of them encourage you to recruit your friends into the game by making bonus items available to you for spamming them with game updates. Farmville and Mafia Wars are two of the most popular. Luckily, you can block individual applications from showing up in your news feed, so if you hate them, you don't have to see them. But usually you'll get pretty annoyed by them first. :)
-
Been there done that. Playing knighthood requires that you have no life or job and that all your friends join to boos your fighting points. Ah, my glorious castle!
-
You know, my sister mentioned something about a game on FB that was taking up considerable amounts of her time...I felt she was neglecting her X360 she'd just gotten and told her so. Not to mention the slew of games I sent her home with and she's screwin around with some freeware on FB? lol
-
Well, they're at varying levels of freeware. Usually they hook you with free gameplay, and then you can buy upgrades and the like with real money. It's sneaky.
-
Oh no...they're hoodwinking folks right and left aren't they. Well, you needn't worry about needless spam from me, it isn't my style to inundate other peoples' inboxes (because I hate it myself) so if I sign up, you guys'll know it because I tell ya.
-
And before that it was pirates versus ninjas. I think I played a ninja but can't remember now. Just remember: "Friends don't let fiends play Facebook games! "
Also, I really need to check my spelling before posting complicated words like "boost".

Ha! I was looking off at an elderly gentleman who'd positioned himself to take a shot and was preparing to turn and face him and I got caught unawares it seems! I love it- thanks for posting, Sir Wolf.

That was one cool pic of Sir Brian!
-
Yes, that was- you looked very imposing, Sir Brian.
-
Thanks but I was probably sticking my tongue out at the time! :D
I won't be able to get away with that as much next year with the new visored bascinet! ;)
-
Templar dude (not on the forum, and not sure which one he is, but I remember seeing him):

I think I have that templar dude friended on facebook. I'm forgetting which one he is though, since I friended a batch of folks at once around that time. :)
-
LOL
You see? I'm even less able of keeping track of random stuff like that!

-
Like the shield, Ulrich...
-
Thanks, I got it at Therion Arms. It was fairly expensive but better than anything I could make probably. Works well as a crusader infantry shield pretty much as it's somewhat longer than the average heater shield. Don't plan on using it for combat though it is padded and could probably be fine for LARP combat, I just don't wanna ruin it.
-
Agreed...thinking of getting a similar one myself.
-
Excellent find! :)
sorry to necro this thread but thats awesome haha!!

No worries. It's better to revive old threads than start new ones here, I think.

me not sexy? :'(
But I can throw a mean zwerchau! :P
-
Looking over that guy's page, I don't think he was being a very nice guy at all. He commented on the "eat sh** and die" look that Angie gave him. If she was doing that, then he was being a creep about how he was taking his pictures. And the whole page is making fun of people.
-
Yeah it was actually a woman's blog and she isn't exactly one to talk about other people's looks considering her face.
:o
-
Woman, eh? My bad. :)
-
BRIAN!!!! that woman's face made me poop my own wiener. i mean really. it went out and got sucked in and right out my butt hehhehehe kjkjkjk
-
BRIAN!!!! that woman's face made me poop my own wiener. i mean really. it went out and got sucked in and right out my butt hehhehehe kjkjkjk
haha let me see this blog now i want to see what theyre saying
-
Just read that blog for myself, and I must say, this woman is a bitch, making fun of anyone for buying random items? Like really who cares I buy stupid stuff too, and the comments on that blog saying that they work as a face painter at renn faires and they said that the painter and her husband make fun of people for buying ugly costumes and guessing how much they paid for an awful costume? I dont know how to feel about that I cant put it into words, help someone?
-
This pretty much sums up that blog:
Sorry this pic was blurry, but I just loved this group of girls!
Check out the fangs on the one and the ears on the other!
The highlight of the renn fest for her was to see people with fangs and elf ears? And to mock floral headpieces as probably not period? Really? I say to her:
-
Lol! That is an excellent photo! The concept is awesome as well not to mention extremely well done! :)
Shallow and vain people like her can never appreciate the creativity and audacious humor of some folks. :(
-
Some people only feel better about themselves when they're tearing someone else down. Besides, everyone's entitled to their opinions, even if they're sh** eaters, no?
-
How nice. I think she has earned a nice Zwerchau >:(
-
Hmph. I'm thinking double zwerchau, in case you only catch the top of the head on the first one.
-
Double tap! (I love me a good Zombieland reference 8))!
-
Yes, that would be rule #2, just behind Cardio. :)
What a great movie...I only discovered it two weekends ago, me and the wife were channel surfing and I said why not, I'm prepared for the inevitable zombie apocalypse, let's see what they did. :)
I think after the first time they snaked them, I would've hogtied those two girls and used'm as bait. lol
-
Here is a couple of great panoramic pictures posted on FB by the big guy in the horned helm. :)
-
that guy is huge!
-
Great shots!
-
Yea, that guy is huge...which makes the picture ultra cool. Great shot you guys...I always seem to miss the group photo ops.
-
We'll have to get another one on the 19th! ;)
-
Think we could get that giant to come? Maybe he'd be willing to play dead while we stood over him w/swords drawn? LOL
-
That man is obviously none other than the grand master of the Knights who say Ni!
-
Did he make you guys bring him a shrubbery? (A nice one, but not too expensive.) :)
-
Here is one from a couple of professional photographers we met at the Maryland Faerie Festival mid-May. I'm dispensing some knightly justice concerning a 'strict' No Smoking policy! ;)

That Sir Brian is brilliant, I like it! ;D

That's a cool pic. Might have to photoshop a proper vanquished foe...
-
So you gave him a last cigarette, and then whacked him for it. Efficient!
;)

I like this idea. Is there a higher-resolution copy available? :)

That's awesome!

YOU...SHALL NOT....SMOKE!

uhm, the 'Dude' is a Betty and not a dude! ;)

uhm, the 'Dude' is a Betty and not a dude! ;)
Well that explains the shaved legs. I need to stop staring at the welder or I need glasses.

hahahahahahah

Let me try this again.
"You Damsel puffing thy lungs with fiery pleasure, reeking the country side, I am a servant of the greater good, flame of Chivalry, the intoxicating smoke shall not avail you, you damsel of a dragon. YOU SHALL SMOKE!" ;)
-
Well she posted the rest and I've asked her for copies of the larger images.
-
A few more...
-
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Those are so cool!
-
awesome
-
Those turned out great! I especially like the first one on the second post of them.
-
Excellent photos indeed, well done Sir Brian! ;D
-
Awesome pictures, good Sir Brian! :)
-
Fantastic photo`s Sir Brian.
Someone has been busy with the elbow grease on that great helm lol

Excellent shots, Sir Brian.

I'm particularly fond of this one. It's hard to get a photo of me without a dumb look on my face or awkward-looking pose, but this fellow did a fine job. He was a nice guy, too.
https://pghrenfestlnovak.shutterfly.com/pictures/2217
These were all from the Pittsburgh Festival this past weekend.
-
Hey, excellent! That is a great photo, you're right. I love seeing the photos others take of us around the faires. Sometimes they can capture something we don't get just by posing for the camera. The candid shots can be really unique.
-
Cool!
-
That last one is a great shot. I have the same problem, pics of me capture me being silly or with an overly stern look. I rarely get quality shots of me just being normal.
