Actually, turns out 666 isn't the mark of the beast. It would seem that at some point someone had made a mistake in translating the book of revelations, and in modern times its gone unnoticed until a few years ago, when some scholars at Oxford, I believe, went back to the earliest known Book of Revelations (from the 3rd century) and retranslated it. The original number is 616, not 666. Go fig.

Which means there are a lot of incorrect tatoos out there. :)

Yup, and a number of scholars feel 616 was some sort of numerical encoding of Nero's name.

Yes, I've read about this, though as I understand it, this is still under debate. I'm afraid I don't know why, though.
