Wisby inspired gauntlets completed

(1/2) > >>

Sir Rodney:
I put the finishing touches on my Wisby-inspired gauntlets last night. ;D

As they are intended for SCA combat and I fight with a polearm frequently, I had to deviate from historical examples to keep my hands safe.  The metacarpal and finger lames are 16 gauge mild while the cuff plates are 18 gauge mild.  The fingers are constructed in a simple clamshell fashion, but I dished each digit on each lame so as to appear like laminated finger plates from a distance.  The thumbs also deviate from historical examples as they have fully enclosed thumb tips, full sliding rivet articulation and are virtually bombproof.  I'm still not 100% satisfied with the fit and will be tweaking them over the next several weeks.  The design was inspired by both Mad Matt's Armoury and Anshelm Arms examples.

[edit: Sorry for the cruddy cell phone pictures.  I'll provide better photos once the tweaking is complete.]

Sir Wolf:
you made these? great job!!

Sir Brian:
WOW! Great job indeed! :)

Sir Patrick:
You've got skills, Sir Rodney!

Sir Ulrich:
Nice, how hard were they to make?
