Displaying armor

(1/3) > >>

Sir Edward:

Greetings friends,

What methods of display or storage have you used for your armor? I'm thinking I really need to improve my way of doing things here.

I saw this mentioned on another forum: (scroll to the bottom): http://ancientarmour.com/Armour%20Display%20Items.htm

Currently my plate armor lives in a large hockey gear bag, my aluminum mail lives in a duffel bag, and my older set of mail that I never wear is on display with a wooden stand I made.

My hope is to get rid of the older steel mail, and re-purpose that wooden stand. But I'd like to come up with a good solution for displaying both my mail and my plate.

Sir Brian:
I did have a stand which I commissioned the blacksmith at the MDRF to make for me a couple of years ago. It lasted several months before the heat welded upright stand separated from the base, so now my armor lives in a wheeled plastic trunk which is more convenient for traveling. I didn't have room for it in my computer/hobby room anyways after we put our sewing machine in there.  ;)

Dragonlover:

I have mine on an old SCA type rig that costs about 30 bucks to make and is like an A-frame on the bottom half and folds up for transport. I tie my legs on to suspend them, then loosely buckle them around the back. Keeps "Floyd" upright near the front door and does a good job of letting all the leather breathe. Plan on putting one together for "Siggy" , just don't know where I'm going to put it since the backplate sticks out so far in the back. ;)

Sir Blackwolf:
Good Sirs,

Dame Dagrny and I have two different styles of stands we use at home, she wears chainmail and I plate. I shall attempt to insert an image herein (or maybe links will work? ). In past seasons we stored and displayed our harness and arms in a small round tent, this year we are looking to do something a bit different.  Sir Andrew, I would have interest in seeing the type of stand you describe.

I am at your service,
Sir Blackwolf
