Aluminum Spaulders

(1/2) > >>

Sir Edward:

I ordered a set of these on January 1:

http://westcoastarmoury.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=132

Since they updated the site with this item a few days ago, and listing it as "in stock", I hope that means mine are shipping. I'll let everyone know what I think of them when they get here.

Sir Wolf:
those things should be light weight as anything

ya yo uhave had troubles in your past with instock armouries ehhehehe.

Sir Brand of WCA used to run the armour store.  they were good but then got over run, late and then non-delievery etc. they changed the name after some time, changed the policies to instock only etc and now have regained a great reputation

Sir Edward:
The spaulders got here today.

Not bad, they're pretty light and still have a decent thickness (they are intended for SCA style combat, after all). There's no lower strap to keep them snug to your arm, and the top has holes for pointing it to a gambeson, etc. Photo shows them next to the helm for scale. They're actually polished to a brighter sheen than I'd prefer... almost a mirror finish.

Sir Wolf:
try this. spray with a 3 in 1 oil lightly and use a scotch brite pad on them. they are those green rectangle pads u get from the grocery store with no soap in them.  test try on teh inside of the spaulder first to make sure it doesnt screw it up ;)

dog collars from the "dollar tree" or dollar store make great straps.

Sir Edward:
Yeah I thought about getting some scotchbrite pads. I need to find out which ones Albion uses and get some of those. I've heard the "grey ultra-fine" ones mentioned before.
