Found this vid and watched it, I wasn't expecting it to be an invaluable resource for period accurate longsword or arming swords. 



One thing I noticed is that in the 14th century, the pommels were disc or wheel shaped, the blades shorter than 48" and certainly were the type of swords both Fiore and Liechtenauer would have used. Later on in the 15th Century, the longswords that were used by Fillipo Vadi and  Hans Talhoffer were longer and stylized with scent stopper pommels and .
