Well on the AA a fiberglass armorer does some great 14th century stuff and should be able to make it for kid size. Check out the thread:

Weight - I'll get back to you. Maybe 25-30 pounds, as a guess.

$20 and less for a helmet is not bad at all!

Really wasn't to tough to build. I'd already done fingered gauntlets for a kid that age ( Amy at Albion's nephew ) http://merctailor.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=190797857 so did these pieces in the same size.
