Medieval Jewelry

Reading through a few Osprey books and articles, I've found several mentions of men (noblemen that it) wearing earrings, bracelets, and rings. Does anyone know what these looked like and where to get authentic jewelry, not that crap peddled at ren faires?

What I've found works best is to search for medieval jewelry at museums (or their websites) and online and them make the replicas yourself, or search for close approximations. One thing I've noticed is that 14th century rings often look a lot like 1970's style rings. Also Gaukler makes some historically accurate jewelry that even has real jewels in it. I'm sure you could talk to him about using lesser materials or providing them sans jewel so you can fit your own. My lady is fairly handy with jewelry making and made some of her own based on medieval originals. Apparently, the key to achieving the right look is to not be too perfect nor too sloppy but somewhere in between.
