just read it. you can tell its an early(1971) 70s novel.
its ok. its a day by day sorta story in the 1rst person(grendel)
the middle gets a tad long but made for a quick easy read.

I like books like this that give you another perspective.  If you have time, check out 'Banewreaker' and 'Godslayer' by Jacqueline Carey- written from the perspective of the 'Dark Lord' (analogous to Sauron).
