Sir Wolf, I apologize...I was referring to my chambers/man cave, not at camp.  Although at camp, I'd probably have a couple of tomes if I found myself w/nothing else to do but read.

Sir James...I look forward to it!

Finishing up on the first storage chest. Learned a few things to make the next one better. Here's some photos of the progress. It's been plugged and sanded, and all that's left is staining.

Yep. I've got some other stuff on the "production schedule" for DoK too, if I can get the time to do it.

Sure, I could probably ... wait, what? I'm not sure about that. I built the chest in I guess 3 or 4 hours, scattered over a few days so I'm not sure exactly how long. If you want to have a go at building something, let me know, I'll schedule up some time to open up the garage and work on stuff.

Sir Brian, thank you. I'm not 100% on how period the inset hinges are, but it's the only way I could get it to attach properly. I didn't want the tiny internal "hidden" kind of hinges. I think I might get or make some decorative strapping for the corners later, but that's some "polish" after everything else is built.

Sir James,  you inspired me, so I tried my hand at a 6-board big enough to hold my armor.

I used some of the edge-glued aspen boards from Lowes since i needed an oversized chest to ensure the breastplate would fit.  I still need to cover the screws I used and get some hinges so I can attach the lid, but here's where I'm at so far:

Nice work, Ian. Just so you know...bundled or binded rope-handles on the sides of these trunks for easy-carry were not uncommon for the time period.

Awesome! I still haven't got around to any kind of walkthrough, but here's pictures at various points of construction on all the chests I did, if it helps / inspires any:

No power tools necessary!  I did all the cutting with hand tools.  Although I won't deny the convenience of a good cordless drill :)
