Jolly Wisby's!
« on: 2012-05-27, 03:33:21 »
So, I heard back from a few armorers about the Wisby gauntlets, based on this design-
http://www.bestarmour.com/gauntlets/gauntlets_30b.jpg  (Gauntlets RG 7.1)

My first choice got back to me as well, and since a few others were talking about looking for Wisby's I figured I'd share with you all! Especially since Jolly Knight gave me permission to post here  ;D
I'm just copying the relevant parts you need from our emails-

Mild steel = 250EUR
Spring or stainless steel = 320EUR
Choice of leather color

Production time is about 1 month since prepayment.
As a rule I start my work after prepayment (about 30% from the total cost).
Delivery time about 2 weeks.

Measurements needed:
Scan  of  your hand with ruler would be good, and circumference of your wrist.

Take your time Sir Brian, lest we all run out of monies and be poor knights ourselves.   ;)

Looks great!  What material did you end up deciding on?  Are these spring or mild?

Some day when I have the cash I will get some finger gauntlets.
Fall down seven, get up eight.

Ian- I went with spring steel and black leather. I can't wait till they're done!
Which reminds me.. a question for anyone who has sewn their own gloves to their gauntlets, any suggestions on what type of thread to use?

Awesome!  Spring is well worth the additional cost. I think you'll be very pleased.

Thanks Thorsteinn! I looked at both, waxed linen was 25#, but the artificial sinew was available in 70# strength, so that's what I grabbed! I doubt I'll need to order more any time soon, found a 450' roll for $12.25 shipped
