Group purchase of shields from Allan / Merc's Tailor?
Sir William:
Hey Allan, I'd sent you a PM on this.
Allan Senefelder:
Spent three hours this morning cutting up and punching out four sets of all the strapping ( andarmes and gauige straps ). Punching out over 600 3/16 inch holes one at a time sucks. I need to run out for some contact cement to glue down the fabric backing, next apply the straps, then glue down to leather shield facing. I whould be starting to rawhide some edges the middle of next week I think.
I know we keep getting told that theres " no inflation " by our politicritters but the $8 increase per 4'x8' of 1/8" plywood since last summer and the $20 increase for a side of rawhide since last summer were a bit of a surprise.
Sir Edward:
Yeah, prices are going up on everything. I think a lot of it is due to increased energy and fuel costs, since a lot of the price goes into transporting the materials these days.
Let me know if I need to throw a little more cash your way to make up for the cost increase of the materials. I'll be happy to do so. I don't want you to be working for free, or at a loss.

Same goes for me too, Allan.
The only reason congress-critters don't think prices are going up is because they keep voting themselves raises above and beyond what the inflation rate is, and they're completely out of touch with reality. Last time I was at home depot a 4'x8' sheet of plywood, I think 1/2", was $45 per sheet! I was considering building an archery lean-to style area that I could use for target practice to teach the youngins how to shoot ... but I saw the price of the plywood and walked away.
