Hey all, Allan wrote back and it looks like we're ready to go. Do you all want to send me the money so I can pay him in one lump sum? Or would you rather all get in touch with him individually?
He's OK with either, and so am I. He's estimating something like $40-50 shipping each, but he said he can settle on that as they're finished. Since he doesn't have the materials yet, we need to pay up front so he can get them.
Let me know what you want to do.

Any chance of the "bulk shipping" of all of them at once? I'm not sure if that goes over the size limit. If it's possible to greyhound them (freight), that's a cheap way I've seen large stuff like car body panels shipped. I'm not sure if there's a station near Allan, but there is a greyhound pick-up down near my in-laws in Woodbridge and I can pick them up from there if needed.
I'll be the third "whatever is fine" guy on the payment. If everyone has a way to pay Allan directly, it's probably easier, rather than send it to Sir Edward and then to Allan, which paypal might get kerfluffled about - especially if we're sending to Sir Edward as a gift, otherwise we'd be eating 3% fee to send to Sir Edward, then 3% more to send it to Allan....
Sir Matthew:
It doesn't matter to me either. Right now paypal doesn't work for me, though. I spent about half an hour on the phone with them tonight without resolving it, we try again with a confernce call to my credit union on Thurs. or Sat., depending on when I get done with work Thurs. Hopefully I can resolve the issues then, if not I can send check/money order although given Allen's car issues maybe that doesn't work for him?

I'll be using UPS and UPS ships simply put by weight and dimension and distance to be traveled. The heavier it is adds to cost, the bigger the box adds to cost, the farther it has to go the greater the cost, so its not going to reduce the price that USP charges. My suggested " anticipate cost " is based only of a rough conglomeration of past costs to ship board around the country. The address of the individual will have a great deal to do with it. Most of you being in VA the cost may come in lower at $28-30 but its better to be safe than sorry.
I can wait till they're all done to ship as a group but this will mean that folks who's shields are done will be waiting for a good bit while the custom painted boards if there are any are getting done. The painting process takes a bit as the paint goes on thick and each color coat needs to cure before another goes on to prevent " curdeling " ( the paint can literally bleed together and take on a swirling curdeled look like spoiled milk ). Thats your guys call to make.
Sir Edward:
OK, so it's sounding like individual payment and individual shipping will just be the smoothest. I'm OK with that.
Sir James A:
No worries on the shipping, just tossing out an idea. I think it'd be best to ship them as their done, that way you can keep the shop clear, and we can get our grubby little mitten gauntlets on some awesome shields. :)
