Group purchase of shields from Allan / Merc's Tailor?

<< < (6/28) > >>

Sir Ulrich:
As long as it's post christmas I am in. I sorta would go for early heater shield. I just need to know whats the rough weight on these. Are they heavier than the one I got currently?

Allan Senefelder:
Damn Brian you did a nice job painting yours! The wife used to do all the custom painting for us, but what you did is exactly what she did, make a stencile, trace it over the leather which will leave an indentation to follow when you paint and as long as you have a somewhat steady hand ( or aren't averse to the occasional touch up ) your off to the races. Well done. These http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1063974438507.2010250.1200387794&type=1&l=7cd4bd04f0 were just a few that the wife did ( the bottom row right hand one is actually the emblem of St. Andrews College and we don't have a pic of the one she did for a fella who wanted the emblem for SACNORAD ).

Sir Brian:
Thanks Allan, but your wife's work was far superior since she used the stencil as just a guide for her free hand brushing while I only touched up after a heavy stencil brush. ;)

Sir William:

You'll want to be in on this.  Allan's shields are actually better than the ones you and I have...he covers the face in leather!  Plus, w/MT being out of business, this really IS a special occasion.

Sir Matthew:
I'll have to see if I can scrape together enough cash to get in on this. I would love a heater like this to go with my mid-14th century kit when I finally get it together.
