Group purchase of shields from Allan / Merc's Tailor?

<< < (24/28) > >>

Sir Wolf:
i think acrylic works best. anyone else?

Sir Edward:

Shields just got here yesterday, and they're awesome.

I think Acrylic is closest to period, but I'm not sure how durable it will be. I'm tempted to investigate oils that might look like acrylic when dry, or if there are specific leather paints. I just don't know what's out there currently.

Sir Brian:
Epoxy based paints are more expensive but the most durable.
(That is what is on your other one Sir Edward)  ;)

Sir Edward:

Tis true, but I think for these shields I want a period-looking paint, so they might pass muster at a more authenticity-serious event.

Actually what I'm considering doing is painting the late heater with my heraldry, but the early one with a Teutonic cross.

Sir Matthew:
I am definitely looking for more period authentic paints. My plan is to have my wife paint my CoA on mine, she's the artist not me.
